even tho the spurs r boring as hell they will win it agin if heat dont You do know how old that argument is right? I don't know how many times I have to say it, the Spurs are a very exciting team. Of course, I'm biased, but please tell me how they're boring when you have Tony Parker sprinting the fast break and Manu putting in ridiculous layups by his moves, that argument is a terrible one. Not to mention the Detroit series, when Robert went off in Game 5, how was THAT not exciting not just for me? Yes, Spurs had a great offseason, don't forget to, we got the best center from Europe over here in Fabricio Oberto as well, and adding NVE and Finley helped to know a few people got off the "give Miami the championship now" bandwagon. Only problem is, I'm just wondering who's gonna be the first guy off the bench, Barry or Finley, how's Pop gonna split that playing time. But I have faith he'll find a way.

I think this is rooted from the assumption that Tim Duncan is a "boring" superstar, in that he's not flashy like LeBron James or Bryant or Iverson. Poor argument, but it's not the Lakers fault - tons of people attach that stigma, or generalization, or whatever you want to call it, to the Spurs, for no good reason.

Manu's not boring. Parker kind of is. He cans core, but I like to see my point guards make unbeliavable passes, and unfortunaterly Parker doesnt have that ability. But the main rreason the Spurs are boring is because they play a slow tempoed game and so much of their offense is set plays for Duncan, who's just a boring player/person no matter which way you slice it.

But...they're GREAT! I guess I don't understand why people think they're boring when they're so good. Did people complain about the Lakers in the 1980's because Kareem was boring? They did have Magic, but the Spurs also have Ginobili, one of the fastest rising stars in the NBA right now. I love watching Duncan...I guess I'll never understand this argument from people, especially when they're winning championships.

Van Exel and Finley are both so far past their primes I doubt either makes a big impact on the Spurs. Expect Finley to start at the 3, only to be replaced by Bowen midseason because at this point Finley plays 0 defense. Van Exel I guess is the backup poiunt, seeing as how the vastly overrated Beno Udrih has looked like NBDL material the last few months of the season. Not good when your backup point guard couldn't get off the bench on a team as bad as Portland. If you know the Spurs or Pop's system in any way, Bruce Bowen will still be starting at the 3, that's not even a question. Big Dog played 0 defense before he got here, and then he became a very good defender in Pop's system, and Finley is already known as a pretty good defender, just because he played for 'Allas doesn't mean that everyone there was horrible, just the system was horrible. For Van Exel coming off the bench, I believe he had injury problems last year, and the Blazers wanted to develop Sebastian Telfair some more, not a bad choice, doesnt mean Nick wasn't good and ready. And I guess you were only watching the Finals when Beno played awful, because he had a great regular season and was supposed to be our permanant backup PG for a long time before NVE came. How is NVE vastly overrated? His ability to get hot and not be stopped is amazing, he's one of the best clutch shooters of all time and all he has to do is be ready for the playoffs as Pop told him, just have a good regular season, but most importantly, be ready for the playoffs. That's what Pop told Horry and look what happened, Horry helped win the Spurs a title, not saying NVE will this year, but I'm not sure how you think he's overrated.

Yeh see, that's why your teams don't win championships, because "unbelievable passes" are just for the flashy guys like Bron, Marbury, and look how they're doing with their teams. A slow tempoed game? Your joking right? Did you even see the Spurs this season. How about against the Suns? When they completely changed their style of play and scored 121 points in the first game of that series, yeh, real slow tempoed. Although a lot of their plays are centered around Duncan, isn't that the smart thing to do? He's only the former 2 time MVP.

There's no other way to put it. That doesn't mean they're not a very good team, it just means they're boring. As for Parker, he does nothing for me. I happen to think he's very overrated. He can't shoot, can't pass, can't rebound, and doesn't play defense.

I agree that Pop will prefer Bowen. He wants a defensive stopper.
However, Manu was cool with a 6th man role. I really am curious to see if Finley or Manu will start.
Manu is so reckless, I worry about eary injury. I would prefer to see Finley start and Manu become the next John Havlicek.

Good basketball is not boring basketball.
Many times exciting basketball isn't really basketball at all. Look at street ball, that's exciting - but not truly the sport of basketball.

Manu become the next John Havlicek. Nice reference here Mojo, but seeing that Manu's already served his time coming off the bench, and he's now established himself (two things that Havlicek did), wouldn't he simply have to start now, like Havlicek earned the right to? After all, he's one of the sport's brightest stars and I'd think he helps the Spurs a whole lot more in 35 mpg rather than 25.
