Odom won't get a 10 Mil starting contract. He didn't even get that when he was younger and signed his current contract. Look at the list of SF's who got 10 mil starting contracts last season.................... If no teams bid then yes I would agree, but if teams are bidding, he will get it. It will be between Odom and Hedi Turk for the elite small forwards in FA The economy was in better shape last season though the Pistons did give Kwame Brown $4 million so I guess anything is possible.

i know this wont be popular with the fellow grizz fans on the board, but i think pau gasol has been totally underappreciated since he arrived in LA. Before he got there that team was a hot mess, and had zero chances of winning a title. Since he has arrived their record has been pretty incredible. Remove him and add another nice PF, not just some scrub, and i dont think they are anywhere near as good.
He is the perfect complement to Kobe b/c he is a very quiet player, but i think as far as his worth to his team goes, as far as public perception is concerened, he is greatly underappreciated.

Laker fans love Pau Gasol. He has never been under appreciated by them. He was Grizzlies fans scapegoat the same way Odom was for Laker fans in previous years.

He is under appreciated though, without him, Lakers don't go to the finals last year and wouldn't have a chance this year.

As a Spurs fan I'd say Matt Bonner. Not the sharpest defender, but he's got a dead-eye outside shot as well as a pretty good drive and flip hook-shot for a big man.

He is under appreciated though, without him, Lakers don't go to the finals last year and wouldn't have a chance this year. How is he unappreciated? Any Laker fan knows that we wouldn't be shit without Gasol. We would be among the teams fighting for 6 - 8 seeds (with Bynum injury) Unappreciated means that your team, journalist, and fans don't give you the recognition you deserve. Guys like Matt Bonner, David Lee, Shane Battier, Mario Chalmers, JR Smith, and Lamar Odom (to an extint) are guys who are unappreciated. Not All stars like Pau Gasol

On that team I think he is the most underrated player, everybody is all over kobe's nuts and bynums nuts.
I lived with a laker fan who you to tell me that Derek Fisher was a top 5 PG in the league, lol.
Most underrated player in the league I would say is James Posey.

I lived with a laker fan who you to tell me that Derek Fisher was a top 5 PG in the league, lol. Most underrated player in the league I would say is James Posey. Excellent choice. Pose was a beast back in his prime years when he was the only star on the Nuggets, now he's kind've just blended into a role player. Great three point shot, excellent defender, and, as proven last year in the Finals, a clutch contributor. I'll also add in Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison because when it comes to "under-appreciated", they define it. My respect for the Wizards has risen tremendously just because these two guys haven't whined and moaned about their situation, they've accepted it, played well in spite of it, and have been extremely professional, and I don't think they get much recognition for this. If Kobe was in this situation, he would've demanded a trade just because he's an elite player and feels he's entitled to a great team to complement his huge ego. Not so for Butler and Jamison, they've acted with great maturity, which is rare in the NBA these days.

It will be between Odom and Hedi Turk for the elite small forwards in FA what SF got a 10 mil starting salary last year? The only contracts I remember at 10 mil or more were young players coming off of rookie contracts like monta ellis, josh smith, Iggy, etc. Corey Maggette got around 8 mil and that was immediately seen as a bad move once the year started. I can see Odom getting 7-8 mil starting, but not 10. Laker fans love Pau Gasol. He has never been under appreciated by them. He was Grizzlies fans scapegoat the same way Odom was for Laker fans in previous years. Gasol wasn't a scapegoat. Most of the reaction Memphis fans had toward him was warranted. Grizz fans just got tired of his whining. Gasol is perfect for the Lakers because he's a very good 2nd option. In memphis Gasol wanted to be the man, and wanted the big contract, and then as soon as he stepped on the court he complained about every call when he should have been running back to defend. When Gasol was injured we won as many games without him as we did with him. If he was a scapegoat we would have been worse once we moved him, which wasn't the case. Notice how Memphis fans would rather have Shane Battier than Gasol. Gasol is the more talented player, but he doesn't put forth the effort Battier does. Gasol is a very talented offensive player with a unique skill set for a big and you won't find a grizz fan that doesn't think the same thing. However you will find that almost every Grizz fan thinks he's a black hole on defense that can't handle contact, complains too much, and is an average rebounder at best.

I agree he's the perfect combination to Kobe because Gasol is not a franchise player. He excels when there's less pressure on him while Kobe has to be the go to guy. Gasol doesn't have a problem letting Kobe do his thing and Kobe doesn't have a problem with Gasol because he knows Gasol won't every try to upstage him.

I agree with you that Gasol use to complain a lot and wasn't playing D, but he did however, for what reason I don't know, step up fairly well playing defense once he came to the lakers and in the playoffs. He did and excellent job against Duncan last year.

If the best player on your team isn't whining for calls chances are your team isn't any good.
The all NBA 1st team this decade reads like the whose who of crybabies

The all NBA 1st team this decade reads like the whose who of crybabies there's a difference between talking to the ref about a call when the whistle is blown and complaining to the ref when the whistle wasn't blown instead of running back to play defense

98% of the NBA players complain.

98% of the NBA players don't complain on 98% of the plays involving them. Anytime you touched Gasol he'd flail his arms about then complain to the ref as the other team drove to the hoop.
