Celtics are off the hook. This is already being called a false rumor. Usually RealGM wiretap is reliable. Guess not this time. Couldn't disagree more about being off the hook, but I guess it's just a symptom of a website hoping to be first on a story and break it first, maybe.

I don't think Antoine Walker is a great player and the Celtics obviously can still fight for a playoff spot without him while rebuilding. It's not a huge loss but losing Pierce for this would be. Andre Miller won't give you any wins. Even in that season in Cleveland their record was horrible. Not to mention what happened in LA with the Clippers. Miller is a decent PG but a leader? Hilario has potencial but I haven't seen enough of him to think he has the potencial to develop into a impact big man in the league. Pierce is good enough to guarantee wins and sell tickets while Boston is rebuilding. He won't give you a championship but how many players do? Even James by himself doesn't mean playoffs. Still good players to have (not saying that Pierce compares to James).
Anyway it seems this is just another rumor so it's kind of a waste of time to discuss rumors that look like they are going nowhere.

I think these rumors are fun to talk about even if they don't go anywhere. But do you know Miller's not a leader? In Cleveland, everyone said that he was, but then he was unhappy in L.A. even though he was near his home. In Denver, he again helped the young Nuggets become successful by leading them. I guess to me I consider him a leader. Pierce doesn't seem good enough to guarantee wins to me as he hasn't done a whole lot of that by himself. Fans adjust - they'll get a new fan favorite (Al Jefferson, Ricky Davis, Nene, Miller, etc.) to root for and pay to see, just like they did when Walker, a huge Boston favorite was dealt. To me, these kinds of rumors are always fun to talk about but maybe I'm not in the majority. I seem to be tacking on the smites...hehe.

Well realgm wasnt the site that said it read the article im not sure but i think it was insidehoops.com
As for the trade it doesnt make sense since they have their SF of the future in Green him and Pierce could make a lethal combo down the line. Plus they could see if Banks eventually works out which IMO he will.

pierce is a cancer to his team, the whole team revolves mostly around him and they would be better off shipping him for some young players and make a nucleus with them.

pierce is a cancer to his team While Jogo and I disagreed about Pierce's value to the Celtics, from someone who actually watches the Celtics a lot, I'd never, ever agree with this. Pierce just seems like he needs a change...that's all. A cancer, to me, is reserved for only the most detrimental of players on a team. Pierce and his character certainly don't seem to be detrimental at all to the Celtics.

Latest report says that a high source in the Celtics organization claims there's a 100% chance that Pierce will be in a Celtics jersey at the start of the season.
It's good to hear as I would hate to see the Celtics out of playoff contention even if they can't win it all. People seem to forget that they were really close to the Conference Finals. You don't trade Pierce like this unless he wants to. And I've never heard Pierce complaining.
Hey maybe you guys will do the other long shot I heard that actually sounded better in terms of celtics future. Devin Harris and Marquis Daniels and something else...

You don't trade Pierce like this unless he wants to. And I've never heard Pierce complaining. Honestly, I think that Ainge is given enough leeway by the new Celtics owners (not sure they can be considered new at this point) to not worry about the playoffs unless they are close and to do a trade even if it means taking a step back if they can then later take three steps forward. i think that was part of the reasoning behing the Walker trade. They were really close to the conference finals...three years ago. Now the Nets, Pistons Pacers, Heat and a host of other Eastern teams are much, much better than they were three years ago. The so-called "weak" Eastern conference is a thing of the past, and I think Ainge saw this and knew they couldn't just keep treading water with what they had. Either they'd start sinking or they needed to take a chance on a new and better life raft. True, I've never heard Pierce complain either, but then again, we don't have access to the team either. That said, maybe I'm completely wrong in my perceptions about him needing a change. Hopefully I am and the Celtics can have a great year.
