kid rock, linkin park, limp bizkit. I dunno what to call it, but they are the same genre. If I had to say something I'd call it rap-metal. So that would make them all closer to rap, and metal than punk.
alkaline trio, unwritten law, millincolin, the vandals, bad religion. Those are punk bands. look it up, take a listen to real punk

lets just say i'm not popular at school because i listen to "screaming rock", which basically consists of two bands that i listen to, system of a down and metallica. Although basically the whole rest of my school loves rap, there are a few that like my kind of music, i do not prefer "screaming rock" to tell u the truth, i like some soft rock like the chili peppers. I uset to like AFI alot, i bought their cd and i dont really like it that much, except for the song "Silver and Cold" u can place that in screaming rock. but anyways to sum it all up, i dont like people who just scream thoughout the whole songs about killing people and death and stuff, because of headbangers, rock is known as "just screaming music about death", from what i've heard, but thats really not the case in most of rock.
Besides the headbangers, i dont see why rock is not enjoyed by most people.
Rap is about sex, drugs, alchohal, bad relationships ending, and what these guys got in real life, u can say that some of that stuff aplies to rock as well, and i would agree with you. But not ALL rock is about that stuff, and i can tell u from what i've heard of rap, EVERYTHING that i just listed applies to that.

A lot of rap is about that, a lot of rock is about that. A lot of rap isn't about that, a lot of rock isn't about that. So, what's your point? Remember, just because you see all this bling bling shit on MTV and in the mainstream, doesn't mean that's the only kind of rap there is. The same goes for rock. Neither is better than the other, it's all opinion. And before anyone says rock requires more skill. First off, some rappers do play their own instruments, second most of the lead singers in a rock band don't play an instrument, they only sing, so how does that make them better than a rapper? Third, rap songs are all about lyrics, whereas rock songs are predominantly a chorus. And before someone says, how hard is it to rap about bitches, cars, etc. I just have to say that I don't care how often you hear a rap song that does that because that only means you don't listen to a lot of rap because a lot of it isn't about that and, also, a lot of rock sings about the same thing.

You the MAN Grizz!!! You have summed it up so EVERYONE knows. Its all about taste. They both definitly take skill to do, its just a matter of what kind of skill. Some like rap, and some like rock....

yeah, there's definetly more to each genre then is seen on MTV and such. But I'll have to say that you don't know what you're talking about if you say that rock is predominatly about a chorus and rap is all about the lyrics. What about all these rap songs that bring in some chick just to sing in the chorus so it will be more popular and sound more poppy. There's tons of rap songs that do that. I'm sure some rock songs are like that too, but you can't say that rap is ALL about the lyrics and rock is JUST about one chorus or you sound as ignorant as the people that say that all rap is about blunts, BlTCHES and 40's.
