Like everything, you can't generalize music, however, if you look at the lyrics of rap songs vs rock songs, you'll know what I mean. Rap started from freestyling, so lyrics are a huge factor, whereas instruments are a huge factor for rock. If you look at the lyrics to a rap song vs a rock song, I bet at least 80 percent or more of the time, the rap song has more lyrics. I'm definately not saying rap songs don't have choruses, they all do. But if you listen to both genres, you'll start to notice that more often than not, the chorus can start to dominate the lyrics of a rock song. I'm not saying this is good or bad, just an observation. And, if you don't believe me, look online at the lyrics of some of your favorite rock songs, they're most likely going to be chorus heavy, because the purpose of a rock song is to rock you, which is done through the instruments: guitars, drums, etc.

freesyling says more for rock lyrics being more meaningful, since freestyling may be great and all, but its not a writen song like most rock songs are. Rock songs write about emotions in life and sing about them, whereas freestyle rap is just what comes to mind that rhymes.

You missed the point. I said rap originated from freestyling, which means rap became lyric based/driven. Today, rock lyrics aren't more meaningful, neither or rap, it just depends on the individual.
Rap does the same thing.
Written lyrics are just what come to someone's mind. The only difference is they can correct and improve it. Have you ever listened to people that can actually freestyle? I don't mean that kiddy shit. Some people can freestlye an entire song that is better than a lot of these written songs coming out nowadays. If two people do a math problem and they both get the same answer, does it matter if one did it in their head and the other had to write it out?

I guess I should trust you then, because I've never listened to rap. I just like to tell people I have. Is rap that clear plastic stuff you put sandwhiches in?
