Saw The Village last night. Left a bit dissapointed. It's ok, but nothing like the previews would lead you to believe. Had it's moments, but like the rest of his movies, seems to have plot holes and relies too much on the ending, which thankfully isn't as bad as the Signs ending.

you've got it all wrong man........i saw the village today and i thought it was VERY WELL DONE and i didnt find any plot holes and i found the acting to be awesome, and i thought the overall story and plot was extremely interesting. ***1/2 out of **** in my opinion. Signs was a better movie than The Village, and the village is not that scary.........its really well done and any film directed by M. Night Shamalan i will definetly see.

It was definately not what I was expecting. Don't go in expecting a scary movie because you will be dissapointed. I thought it was a good movie, great acting and characters but the plot leaves a little to be desired. It wasn't the best but i definately reccomend it to people.

What exactly did you get? Everything was laid out, so there wasn't much to miss. As for some of the problems wih the plot:
WARNING SPOILERS
Where did all those people come from? The village was started by the elders, who were already fairly old to begin with in that picture, so they would have had to reproduce like bunnies the second they got there. How can you have a Wildlife preserve that doesn't preserve any kind of wildlife and manage to keep away the government and media? Where did all those dogs come from? We never saw any in the village. How can you call the creatures those we never speak of, when you speak of them all the time? Coyotes skinning and killing dogs? Are the towns people that dumb to fall for that? I also thought Brody's character, the retarded guy, was kind of pointless. There's other things, but I don't want to make a real long post.

Also, I'm not saying The Village is a bad movie, it has a lot of good things going for it, but I was dissapointed and think M. Night's movies are slowly falling off. I thought Sixth Sense was the best, then Unbreakable, then Signs, despite it's ridiculously horrible ending; then The Village. I really enjoy Night's pace and the interaction of the characters in his movies, but I think his movies are starting to fall apart as they get towards the end as he keeps trying to wow us like the Sixth Sense and it's not working.

brody's character was vital for the movie's plot. if u had seen it u woulda known that............
*Spoilers*
The reason they could keep the government and media away is because the head elder, William Hurt's character, told Ivy that his father was the wealthiest man in the area..........and since he had so much money...... M. Night Shamalan (yes he was in the movie to) explained to the kid who went to go get the medicine that if planes and stuff flew over the village the people would've figured out that it really wasnt 1897!
Its a confusing movie and i had to have my dad explain it to me but i think for the most part i got it.

SPOILERS
First off, I saw the movie, so don't say "if u had seen it u woulda known that............" Second, Brody's character wasn't vital. He didn't add anything to the movie and his only purpose was to create whatever twist M. Night wanted. You take him out of the movie and rework the plot and I think you have a better movie. Third, I know M. Night was in the movie, he's in all his movies. Fourth, I don't care how rich Walker's dad was, you can't keep the government away, let alone the media. The media finds out everything. Also, I really disliked M. Night's scene. It's only purpose was to try and fill in some of the gaps in the plot and was really out of place. The "kid" comes in and then M. Night is just like, oh by the way, don't talk about the wildlife because we don't want people talking, it's all secret, they even paid off the government so they wouldn't fly over the preserve, yada yada. That would have been said the very second he was hired. Also, M. Night would have seen or heard him taking the medicine even if he was reading a newspaper. It's not like the kid grabbed something and left, he stood in a corner grabbing several things, only a few feet away, anyone in the room would have noticed. And another thing, who in the world would find a blind woman that says she lives in the preserve and then just help her back over without saying a word? I don't care how sorry you feel for her, you're going to tell someone.

*Spoilers*
Brody's character was vital to the plot because he was the one who stabbed Lucious because he was jealous that Ivy and Lucious were in love when Brody loved Ivy. That created the reason for why Ivy had to go to the towns and etc........that was the climax of the movie...........so Brody was vital to the movie.
*end of spoiliers*
lol, u said u liked the movie but it seems to u that u could've written a better plot haha.
o, and by the way the place where the movie took place, my friend's friend owns that property and her grandmother let them use it for free, pretty cool *random fact*. also, i dont live very far from where to movie took place, maybe about 35-40 minutes. *another random cool fact*

Brody's character was only vital to the plot M. Night created, but if you take Brody out and change the plot, then I think M. Night could have made a better movie.
It doesn't seem to me that I could write a better plot, I know I can, and I know I have. Of course, now someone will say, if you think you're so good, why don't you have any movies, etc. First, I will. Second, I've only just turned 22 and have one more semester of college, so I still have plenty of time. Also, if you want to breakdown the plots, none of M. Night's movies are even original, but they're still good movies.

The movie just about put me to sleep. I was expecting some kind of horror movie. It wasn't horrible, but I could have waited for it to come out on DVD.

I work at a movie theater so I'll get to see it for free, but from what I've heard I wouldn't pay shit to see it. What I wanted was a sixth sense type movie, not fucking romeo and juliet
