Surprised to say the Rise of Skywalker was actually decent. Hated the first two but it ended pretty okay.

Parasite: 5 out of 5 Stars
Just watched this movie last night and it's already near the top of my all-time favorite movies. Just an amazing film, that I won't elaborate too much on, as I feel the best way to experience the movie is to go in completely cold. Don't even watch the trailers. Yes there are subtitles but the editing and framing of the shots are so intricate that the movie almost works without even reading the subtitles.

Rise of skyWalker was lukewarm to me on its own but as a trilogy the sequel trilogy was a dumpster fire imo. Abrams and Johnson on totally different pages, and Abrams wrote 9 As a follow up to 7 as if 8 had never happened. To be clear I think 8 was by far the worst of the sequel trilogy and actually somewhat enjoyed watching 7 and 9... but the plot was so convoluted and confused, I feel like nothing of importance happened during the entire trilogy.

Adam Driver/Kylo Ren was the only high quality element of the sequel trilogy in my opinion.

It just wasn’t for me at all. Too many breaks with canon (Luke’s light saber, the holdo maneuver, etc) + the Finn/Joy casino planet sideplot was a shit stain on the Star Wars franchise in my opinion. also think snoke was an utterly non-compelling villain

People I know argued that people change over 30 years, and that excuse didn't really fly with me.

Watched terminator dark fate. Thought it was better than the shit reviews i've been seeing, but understand the hate from a storyline perspective. It completely shits on everything that's been established. I kind of just watched it as if it was one of the old "What If" comics from back in the day, and enjoyed it as an action popcorn flick.

I feel like the Terminator franchise has run it's course, every single movie (outside of Salvation) has followed the exact same premise. I agree that Dark Fate was a solid action movie, but a pretty generic Terminator movie. It was basically the Force Awakens of Terminator, a hybrid rehash/reboot but not nearly as emotionally resonant as that movie. Once again Arnold and his comedic timing was the best part of the movie.

Rise of Skywalker was a solid ending. Nothing spectacular and I'm still pissed how they just never explain how The Emperor LIVED after getting thrown down a shaft in Return of the Jedi but whatever.
"Knives Out", "Doctor Sleep", and "The Lighthouse" were my favorites of the year. Still need to see "Parasite" and "1917" though.

Finally saw Rise of the Skywalker. I totally get why Star Wars fans in general might have hated 7, 8, and/or 9. I'm a LOTR fan like that and I'd feel the same way about my shit too.
From my perspective as a casual fan I thought it was fine. Given the herculean task I think they did pretty well. The "remember what happened in ep 8...well fuck that it doesn't matter" stuff would be super annoying if I gave a shit about that, but I don't. As blockbuster moves they're fine.
I felt like ep 9 was sort of rushed and stunted for the first 40 minutes or so. Then again, so were parts of the original trilogy. Some of the plot points didn't connect perfectly and some motivations were rushed. The 2nd and 3rd act (especially the 3rd) were very good. I was totally captivated by the 3rd act even though it was fairly predictable.
The effects and settings were amazing. The waves scenes and the giant death star were fucking incredible. The acting was good. A solid B+ from my perspective. Wonder Woman was a FAR weaker in terms of being rushed, random, and shitty in parts (the villain was awful) and peopled seemed to love that movie. I think it comes down to expectation. If you just want to see an entertaining set of movies all 3 are well done and perfectly fine.

I fucking hated Rise of SKywalker. With a passion. Burning passion. I literally enjoy every single other live action Star Wars show/movie(i just specify cuz I've never watched any of the animated stuff), including all three of the prequels, but that movie was hot garbage.

If you have Hulu, see "Parasite" ASAP. I'm revamping my Top 100 Movies list and I have it tentatively hovering around the Top 20.

Watched 1917 the other day. Great cinematography. Didn't realize it was the same guy as the new Blade Runner, two great looking movies for sure. Not sure I would call it Best Picture worthy, but it was definitely a good one.
Parasite is on my list, but to be honest haven't really felt like watching it these days.
