Watched Joker, I know, I am a little late on this one. Man, what a movie and performance from Phoenix. Really wish they would incorporate this Joker into more things.
Also, a few weeks ago watched Ad Astra and holy shit was a pile of shit movie. Literally HOW DID THIS GET MADE? Who saw this and was like "this is an epic film!"?!? I have to imagine Pitt is embarrassed with the end result.

Also crammed in Ozark and didn’t mind it I’ve become a big Jason Bateman fan lately. Also if anyone has a TV show they recommend I’ll be glad to give it a view.

Wow, I really liked Ad Astra. Then again I'm a sucker for space movies. With that said nothing touches "Interstellar" recently, which I just recently rewatched.

I am usually a sucker for space movies as well, especially the 'sail off into the unknown forever' genre, but man, I guess I just had too high of expectations b/c I thought it was really boring in LONG stretches. I get that pacing is a deliberate thing at times, but this, IMO, just was bad movie making. I also know a few people who didn't like Joker. I think the movie could have been made just about the mental health system and not even been called joker and been great, but putting it into the Joker world I think brought it a lot more eyes obviously. Imagine Twilight-Batman doing battle with THAT Joker. Holy shit I would watch that. 2nd the suggestion about Leftovers. One of the few shows that doesn't go on for too long. Really a brisk fun watch.

Yeah "Ad Astra" was one of those movies you either really liked or really hated. Totally polarizing from what I've read. I also liked "Joker", although the bleak nature of it detracts in terms of rewatchability because it's just such a heavy film. But Phoenix's performance is maybe the best performance of all-time. It's THAT good. And "The Leftovers" was really good, I especially liked how they decided to end it.

Liked Ad Astra, and loved Interstellar. One of my all-time favorites. Ending of The Leftovers was awesome, even if I didn't like some of the things they flat out ignored.

I also liked Ad Astra but I went into it with lowered expectations given the bad audience reception. I thought it was well paced and especially enjoyed the lunar cart action sequence. I've never see anything like that on film. I also like that the world had a lived in quality to it. There was nothing too fantastical about what was going on and everything that happened was pretty believable (well until the ending). Unfortunately I don't think they had a good idea about how to end the movie. Then again I really liked First Man which is another movie people thought was really slow.

Highly disappointed after the first 5-10 minutes. But Joker? I put it off until about a month ago. What the fuck was I thinking. If you haven't watched it yet, make it a priority. Even if you don't like comic book movies. I can't say enough about this movie, and Joaquin deserved the Oscar hands down.

Joker the second viewing I enjoyed less, with the exception of Phoenix's performance. Heath is still the definitive Joker but Phoenix did an awesome job. Had originally had it at like an 8.5/10 but prolly would rate it 7/10 how.
I thoroughly enjoyed Ad Astra, was surprised by how many people didn't. Thought it was well acted, well paced, and the two or three set pieces were fun and incentive.
The Leftovers is one of my favorite movies ever. Cannot recommend it enough with the caveat that if you go into it looking for definitive answers you are going to be disappointed. They said from the jump there wouldn't be and while there is an answer if you want there to be, nothing definitive. Seriously though, among my 5 or 6 favorite shows ever.

Just re-watched "Magnolia" on HBO Max and howwwwwww did Tom Cruise not win the Oscar for this? He comes in with a scene at the end that is so powerful and emotional. Incredible, incredible movie too.
