What genre of movies do you think are most effective at drawing in an audience, and why?

I'd say the action genre, mainly movies from comic books or real books are the best becuase they can relate to everyone

You can relate to comic books? I mean, I can relate to Mr. Fantastic having and infinite sized...arm, but don't know about having claws rip through my hands

I could easily argue every genre, but for now I think I'll go with Horror. Only good horror though. Bad horror is only good for laughs. The reason I say Horror is because I think it has the biggest impact when the movie's over. I mean, look at Jaws. How many people were scared shitless of the ocean after that movie? How many people are afraid of the dark or being alone because of a horror movie?

i would say comic book types, or big books because they already have a large audience to begin with
also something which is risky but can be rewarding are the animated movies.......basically you advertise to kids and get at least one more person because the parents have to go too

I don't think the question was about making the most money, but being the most effective to an audience's emotions, etc

depends on your definition of drawing in an audience. It doesn't necessarily mean bringing in an audience to the theater. It can mean drawing them into the movie itself.

For example, Tomb Raider will draw an audience to the theater, but Crash will draw an audience into the movie
