With the controversy generated by the selection of Florida over Michigan to play Ohio State in this year's BCS National Championship game, the calls for a playoff in college football are louder than ever. Would you be in favor of a playoff system in college football, or do you think the current BCS system is the right way to decide a champion? Bonus: If you support a playoff system, how would your playoff system work?

Yes, the only way to have a clear champion is to have a playoff system. It's used in every other division and league except division 1 football. We already have the championship game on January the 8th which for most schools is the beginning of the spring semester. So there goes the arguement that a playoff would interfere with classes because the current bowl system already does.
I would keep the majority of the bowl system the way it is. Keep 5 BCS games except with one alteration. Have the #1 team play the #4 team and the #2 vs. #3 on January 1st. Then have the winner of those two games square off January 8th in the BCS Championship. The Playoff bowls would rotate every year much like they have been doing previous years for the BCS Championship (ie, the Rose Bowl & Orange would get a playoff one year, the next the Fiesta and Sugar would be the playoff games, and so on.)
Easy enough...wish they could get it done.

Don't everyone comment on this at once. It gets confusing to read.

Obviously there should be a playoff system, there is no way to truly crown a champion without deciding it on the field.
I say there should be the top 8 teams go into a 3 week playoff - championship game new years day

It did not work this year. Just because you think Florida and Ohio State are the best two teams is just your opinion. Someone else might think that Michigan deserved a shot, or maybe Boise State.
Just because the popular opinion says that Florida is the 2nd best team in the league doesn't mean it's true - the games aren't decided on a field, they are decided by opinions. And that is wrong

Playoff system for sure. College Football is the only fucked up so called postseason in all of sports. MLB has playoffs, NFL has playoffs, NHL has playoffs, NBA has playoffs, quite long though, NCAA baskeball has playoffs best ever I might say, Even fucking Nascar has a playoff system now, Also the PGA tour is implementing a playoff system next season. World cup has playoffs, basketball world championships have playoffs, Even the olympics is somewhat of playoffs because of all the qualifiers you have to pass to get the best bunch of guys/girls against each other in a championship race, High school football has playoff systems.
The only reason College football is like this and will be hard to change from this, is because of all the money in the bowl games from huge companies that sponser this shit and give money to the colleges. Basically its all politics to just get your company's name out in the public, has nothing to do with football at all, except fucking it over and having controversey every year, but the big companies could care less as long as they get money and there company gets air time. Obviously if big companies gave a shit we wouldn't be going to war or controlling other countries for fucking oil or slave labor. So if they don't care about people dying and shit, why the fuck would they care about if a college playoff system works.

if u go playoffs would the o state/mich game lose its greatness? with both teams having locked up spots in the playoffs wouldnt they rest some of their players for the 3 week playoff run? same with usc/ucla and so on so on. im fine with a plus one but anything more than that is not a better option.

Does any other sport rest their guys before the playoffs? Yes, does that hurt the excitement of the playoffs? Hell no, there just as exciting. Plus im not so sure they would bench there players because the season is shorter and every game matters a lot more in college. One reason they wouldn't bench their starters or Stars is because the team that loses that game ends up with a tie breaker between other teams with one loss, so they might not get that best seed. So I think they would play everyone.

OMG!?! A regular season game wouldn't be as exciting if there was a playoff?
Who the fuck cares? I think you're forgetting about the 7 playoff games that would be more exciting than any of the regular season games in college football history
