Wow, The seattle sonics don't even make the playoffs, or even have a chance after coming off a 52 win season and winning the division, with the only antonio daniels and jerome james leaving. Wow i guess those 2 guys were the difference in a 52 win season and 3rd in the playoffs compared to not making it at all.

They really need to get rid of those stupid division seedings. The 2 best teams in each conference could end up facing each other in the 2nd round instead of the conference finals.

In MY PERSONAL OPINION (that is worth what it is), Sonics are worse. Not just what you mentioned (and Daniels was very important last season imo) but they also lost coach Nate who I think was a big piece of their success. Not to mention Ray Allen isn't in a contract year anymore. Not saying he will suck but we know how players play twice as hard in contract years. So the Sonics got worse and the nightmare is that lots of the west opponents got better. Maybe they are at Wolves level but without a Garnett.

wow, so losing a couple bench players and a coach makes a team go from 3rd in the league to not making the playoffs?
but the suns lost 3 starters and you still have them up there.

We all know that 3rd seed was fake. A couple more losses and they would be 6th seed.
Besides the Sonics didn't make the playoffs the season before and with less changes, they got that 3rd seed you talk about, so big changes in record do happen in the NBA from season to season and it doesn't have to be caused by completly changing rosters.
As for the Suns, it's really hard to say how good they are now. I think they are the hardest team to label. When we look at it, anything can happen in the Pacific.
Oh and I have nothing against the Sonics. When I look at the NBA, I'm probably the most unbiased guy here. If I don't think they will make the playoffs it's because I really think that. I don't want to put them down, it's just my opinion, good or bad.

Ok but can you promise me a season without injuries from the 8 teams I said are playoff teams?
For all we know at this point, Sonics can make the playoffs because Kobe gets injured of because Jazz have another injury plagued season or even the sonics can miss it because Ray Allen gets out for the season in December.
That bet would be really stupid wouldn't it? Sorry but this are just some predictions, not a pissing contest.

Oh are they improved? Didn't notice they were. In that case they'll miss the playoffs by less.

Oh are they improved? Didn't notice they were. In that case they'll miss the playoffs by less. I'm being serious. I want to know why you don't have them in the top 11 of the West. I think if they are healthy, its a no brainer they're a playoff team.

I think if they are healthy, its a no brainer they're a playoff team. It's probably the other way around. If everyone has their share of big injuries, Memphis will make the playoffs. Top explain why, 1st we all agree that the west is wide open so lots of teams can make it. 2nd I'll assume that we agree that the top 6 are going to finish ahead of the Grizzlies. Then it's simple. It's all about dominant players and dominant coaches. I think an healthy Jazz are a very good team. Sloan is a top 3 coach in the NBA and AK is a dominant player. With AK at the begining of the last season, Jazz were doing great and at top in the standings. Then the Lakers. Well, the Lakers have Phil Jackson who I think will get the Lakers some wins by himself. Then they have Kobe and Kobe, well, we can hate him but he is a top 5 player in the NBA and we all know those bring the wins in close games. So as you can see, when things are close, I bet on the best of the best, and Grizzlies although a nice team, don't have those and that will hurt them down the line. Stoud and Eddie Jones make them a better team? Not really imo. Can anyone on the Grizzlies explode for a career season? You probably think Mike Miller will turn into a stud and help Gasol but I don't see that much upside in anyone.
