Draft day is just a week away and one of my favorite days of the year. Any day you can here Golic and Mel Kiper for 10 hours has got to be great. Here are my projected picks with explanations....any other draft fans out there can either just post their projections or projections with reasons.....
Oakland – JaMarcus Russle - AKA this years Ryan Leaf. I am not a fan of Russle at all. I think my Notre Dame’s Defense created this pick. I am glad that he can throw the ball 60 yards while pinching a loaf on the toilet but his decision-making skills and work ethic are both in question.
Detroit – Calvin Johnson – I know a lot of you are laughing right now. But Millan is one of those guys who doesn’t care what others think and he will not pass up on the best player in the draft so he wont be mocked about making four first round picks at the WR position. This time I think he actually gets it right. Johnson is a stud. The rumors of pot admissions may let him drop to #4 Tampa Bay.
Cleveland – Brady Quinn – I am an Irish Fan so I will try not to be biased. But BRADY QUINN IS THE NEXT JOHN ELWAY hahahaha…..ok that is a stretch but Quinn is NFL ready and I think the best QB in this draft. A lot of his critics talk about him not being able to win the big game. But they don’t mention that over the last two years in those ‘big game’ losses the Irish D has given almost 40 points a game. I think Quinn is a great pick for Romeo Crennel, he needs a guy who is NFL ready.
Tampa Bay – Joe Thomas- The Buc’s are hoping to get Calvin Johnson and may make a move up to try to get him. However, they may think he will fall to them and if they don’t get him I think the will fill one of there wholes at OT. Joe Thomas is a safe pick for them here.
Arizona – Trade down or Levi Brown – Arizona has a lot of needs and trading down for more picks is in their best interest. However, if they do not do this I see Levi Brown coming in to do the same thing Joe Thomas will do for Tampa Bay by filling a position of need at OT.
Washington – Gaines Adams – Adams has been projected to go as high as #2. He is a great pass rusher and would be a perfect fit in Washington. Adams could go higher but if he is on the board at pick #6 he will be wearing a Redskin’s jersey next year.
Minnesota – Adrian Peterson - I am a Vikings fan and I hate this pick!!!!! I would love for them to try to move up in the draft and try to get the next Joe Montana, Brady Quinn(that’s right he is the next Elway and Montana all in one with a touch of Randall Cuningham thrown in). The Vikes had a RB who ran for over 1200 yards last year however they will draft the name and continue their draft day blunders.
Atlanta – LaRon Landry – A lot of people think Petrino will draft his Louisville DT Okoye but I think they will fill their bigger need at Safety here.
Miami – Trade up or Jamaal Anderson – Miami needs a QB and they loved the days when Quinn was being projected to fall to them here. They would also love to have Levi Brown or Joe Thomas still available but I don’t think they will be. I think they will look into trading up to get one of these guys and if not settle on Jamaal Anderson to give them some young talent on the Dline.
Houston – Darrell Revis – I think Houston will pick Revis or Okoye. They could really use the CB help but it will be hard to pass on the youth and toughness of Okoye. Houston has a lot of needs also starting with trying to figure out how they will protect Shuab better then they did Carr.
