instead of trading a 4th for Mike Williams or Randy Moss we use a 3rd to draft Paul Williams. OUR NEW GM IS GREAT

not really sky is falling.....I just get sick of the same subpar garbage.....the Vikes just dont show up on draft day.....and I think Childress is a lot like Bob Davies ......... he knows football just doesnt cut it as a head coach........ he was brought in to be the anti-Party boat Coach
What is your take as a Vikes fan on what they are doing.......they had the 8th leading rusher in the NFL in one of the most stagnant offenses in the NFL and the use their first pick on a hyped name at the same position.....

I'm rating their draft as a B right now. We've drafted a WR and CB in the 2nd & 3rd round who are projects. So If they would have made more than one free agent move in the offseason, I'd rank it a little higher. Outside of trading up to get Landry, I like the move of drafting Peterson. Some teams, Eagles being one of them, had Kolb ranked higher than Quinn...and the Eagles seem to know their stuff more than we do. On the 2nd day, hopefully we'll try to add a little depth at needed positions, a special teams player, and I wouldn't be surprised if we draft a QB. I really, really wanted Moss back...but that bridge was probably burned. The potential of Peterson being a game breaker rates this Vikings draft as a B for me.
Then you look at what the Patroits have done and you see why they're good every year. Bradon Merriweather, Randy Moss, the 49ers 1st round pick next season and 8 picks to come today.

Yes and the Eagles are being mocked today for their picking of Kolb
The vikes just dont balance the risk-reward in their drafts
Peterson has a huge risk with a huge reward possibility....... same thing with Sidney Rice....everyone is calling him a boom or bust... hmmmm a WR from South Carolina..not a good route runner and has problems with drops........hmmmmm where have the vikings seen this before.....only this guy is not as fast so at least we did not take him with the 7th pick overall

If you look at the 4 teams who made the conference titles last year, each of them had solid 2 man RB rotations. The Vikings don't have anything behind Taylor and honestly I wasn't all that impressed with Taylor...granted teams stacked the line against us constantly. Im much more disappointed in the way we've done free agency the past few years than our draft this season. We have the most free agent $ to use nearly every year and never us it.

I agree 100% on FA this year....last year they looked like free spenders and now the complete opposite.....also when looking at the solid teams last year the two man RB situations was not the main factor in their success.....they still dont have a guy who can throw the ball or guys who are ready to catch it this year or big play makers on the D side of the ball(however, I do look forward to seeing Greenway back this year after the injury.....I loved that pick last year and then the vikes just went down hill the rest of the draft.......both second round picks were reaches and one of them they traded up for the reach)..........MAN I LOVE DRAFT WEEKEND!!!!!!

WEEK THREE IN THE NFL
CLEVELAND BROWNS AT OAKLAND RAIDERS
if both Quinn and Russle are playing.....how does everyone think both QBs will do???
Russle had two WRs go in Round one........Samardjiza would have gone mid to late 1st round and their #2 man McDrop....I mean McNight will go sometime sometime today

From Rotoworld...
Vikings
1. (7) Oklahoma RB Adrian Peterson Ht/Wt: 6-1.5/217 40: 4.4 Without question, Peterson was the best player available at No. 7. Because his college injuries were somewhat fluky, Peterson's long-term durability isn't as big a concern as his current collarbone issue. But the Vikings are confident the injury will heal on its own and with Tarvaris Jackson at QB, there was no way Minnesota could have passed on a player with such game-changing and dynamic ability. He's well worth the risk.
Grade: A
2. (44) South Carolina WR Sidney Rice Ht/Wt: 6-3.5/200 40: 4.53 Unlike Dwayne Jarrett, Rice doesn't have trouble freeing himself from man coverage. As the Gamecocks' all-time leader in TD receptions, he also is a natural in the red zone. Rice is willing to go over the middle and has sure hands. A third-year sophomore, Rice is a bit raw but it won't be a surprise if he emerges as the Vikes' No. 1 receiver immediately.
Grade: A+
3. (72) Fresno State CB Marcus McCauley Ht/Wt: 6-1/203 40: 4.39 McCauley struggled with a concussion and inconsistency as a senior but as far as third-round picks go, he was a robbery. You don't find such tremendous skill sets at this point in the draft unless it's coupled with serious off-field baggage. McCauley needs to work on his tackling – a key trait in coordinator Leslie Frazier's Tampa 2 – but won't have to start right away and could even find himself replacing Darren Sharper at free safety before long.
Grade: A
4. (102) Texas DE Brian Robison Ht/Wt: 6-3/251 40: 4.67 Brad Childress has a thing for athletic freaks. Robison, who began his college career at linebacker and was a Big 12 champion shot and discus thrower, tore up the Combine with his forty, 27 reps of 225, and a superb vertical. But he collected only 5.5 sacks as a senior and the Vikings have a similar player in Ray Edwards. Simply put, the Vikes are in a hole having blown several first-round picks on defensive ends and Robison is unlikely to get them out.
Grade: C+
5. (146) East Carolina WR Aundrae Allison Ht/Wt: 6-0/198 40: 4.39 Allison's standout Senior Bowl and electrifying forty weren't enough for teams to overlook his tendency to take plays off. He's been knocked as a weak blocker and a project. But the fact that he can catch already gives him a leg up on Troy Williamson. Allison's downside in Minnesota is as a fourth or fifth receiver; not bad for a fifth-round pick.
Grade: A-
6. (176) Oklahoma LB Rufus Alexander Ht/Wt: 6-1/228 40: 4.7 Round Six is about time to forgive a consensus first-team All American and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year for having mediocre speed. Unless Alexander completely packs it in after falling so far in draft day, the Vikings should at worst have a quality weak-side reserve and special teamer. He should back up Chad Greenway as a rookie.
Grade: A
7. (217) Coastal Carolina QB Tyler Thigpen Ht/Wt: 6-2/222 40: 4.73 Thigpen played quite a bit in college, seeing quality action in all four years and winding up as the most prolific QB in school history. Mostly a scrambler in his underclassmen days, he struggled with his accuracy until his final season. Thigpen has a nice skill set and is a fine long-term project for Childress, but he's unlikely to be a reliable backup for two-to-three years.
Grade: B
7. (233) Florida International WR Chandler Williams Ht/Wt: 5-11/184 40: 4.42 Williams has good speed but averaged just 9.9 yards-per-catch as a senior due to serious problems at the quarterback position. He was productive all four years at FIU and is younger than the average draft pick. Williams will challenge for a roster spot as a rookie but is more likely to spend a season or two on a practice squad.
Grade: B-
Overall: It worries me when teams draft nearly all well-known players, but the Vikings got a terrific amount of talent and experience with most every selection. As proven college players, the picks' chances of becoming NFL contributors sooner rather than later are dramatically increased. There probably wasn't a more complete draft than the one Minnesota put together over the weekend of April 28-29.
Overall Grade: A

I hope Roto is right........but I really dont think they are....the guy never made it through one season without getting hurt.....unless they make some major changes to his running style he is going to get hit hard and injured before the midway point of the season.......... T Jackson is not a NFL QB and the only possitive out of all of this is the Vikes will get another high draft pick next year........too bad they will waste it
