I had a friend of mine had a friend that at the beggining of the year, bet 500 bucks that the Patriots would go undefeated and win the Super Bowl, a payout of 2 million dollars. Bet was looking real good. A week before the Super Bowl, the casino that this guy placed the bet offered to buy him out of that bet for 1 millions dollars. He turned it down.

Ouch! You don't here often about these "feel bad" stories. Not that they don't happen. The what ifs are gonna haunt that guy.

Didn't he at least hedge and lay some serious coin on the Giants? Can't believe you'd turn down $1 mil unless you weren't hurting for the cash!

Well, in his mind he was probably giving away a million dollars given that the Patriots were heavy favourites i believe.

Yeah, you always have to take the guarantee. Especially when it's that much. I talked to his my boy today, and he said he have a tough time right now.

What were the patriots paying for the win?
Sport is never a sure thing.......it was a great bet but you need to know when to walk away

I did this in a college bowl pool once where it came down to the last game, although it was for much less than 1 mil. The Giants were 13 point dogs...he should have LEAST bet a mil on the Giants +13. If the Patroits won by less than 13, he would have gotten 3 mil. Maybe he got caught up in the moment and wasn't thinking right...who knows.
