I agree. The "everybody's doing it" excuse has not point. That is what you were referring to, right? So Bonds hit homers more easily because he was on steroids. But it didn't make it any harder for him when the pitchers he faced were also on steroids? That doesn't make any sense. He hit some out that he might not have because of steroids - he also didn't hit some out because of pitchers that were on steroids. This possibly occurred all throughout the 90's even when he wasn't juicing. The point is; steroids effected everyone from the era - to say that they effected only a couple of power hitters is very short-sighted.

You do realize that the harder a pitcher throws, the higher the chances are of the batter hitting it out, yes? Even OOPT reflects this fact. It's the "movement" on the ball that makes it harder to hit. Batter would love to face a guy with a lot of velocity but little movement. They'd tee off on him all day. Steroids don't make pitchers have more movement. But it will make them throw harder and heal faster... just like Bonds.

Sometimes throwing a ball harder gives it more movement. This is especially true for 2-seam fastballs. Also, sliders and splitters etc are much harder to hit if they are thrown faster.
As for healing faster - that's as important if not more important for a pitcher than a batter. If a reliever is throwing several times in a week then he needs to be recovering quickly. As the season wears on, starters can get tired if they begin to throw 100+ pitches and effect them for their next start. If they are on steroids then their recovery time is less, and they can pitch with equal effectiveness from start to start. Combine that with the added velocity on their fastballs, sliders, splitters, sinkers, cutters, etc and they get much harder to hit.

Were any of you a former High Schooler Pitcher? If not, then take it down a notch.
Do any of you idiots even know how to increase velocity of a fastball? Sure, steroids help but if you work out the right parts of the body, it will definitely help with the velocity. And velocity doesn't increase movements, you can ask Greg Maddux all about that.
2-seam fastballs doesn't have to be fast to have movements. If it has more velocity on it, it's going to have late movements as oppose to slower 2-seam fastball which will show movements half way through. As long as it has movements, it's fine. 60 feet and 6 inches is very short distance, it doesn't make a huge as long as it has movements.
I don't like to defend Bonds here, but it's obvious he's not the only one who used roids. Some MLB players have, but the difference is Bonds had the work ethic to become what he is today, despite roids. He's hated because nobody likes him (i don't like him) and if it was a different steroid guy doing this homerun shit, maybe there wouldn't be as much of a bad talk as there is right now. The media has cooled off on Jason Giambi coming front about roid usage, it still doesn't make Giambi a good guy even if he apologized.
Bonds will eventually be caught sooner or later imo, but while he's not caught, relax and just enjoy this time because it doesn't come along that often.
