Arbiter: Titans must let McNair use facilities
An arbiter ruled Wednesday that the Titans must allow Steve McNair to work out on their property because he has a contract with the team.
A small victory for McNair. The Titans barred him because they didn't want to be liable for his $23.46 million cap figure if McNair got hurt. This forces Tennessee's hand and should expedite a trade to Baltimore or release. McNair is believed to have a contract worked out with Baltimore and seems unwilling to renegotiate his deal with Tennessee.
Seahawks DE Fisher faces assault charge

Seahawks DE Bryce Fisher faces a fourth-degree assault charge for a domestic dispute.
The charge stems from April, but the case was continued to December 6th. Since its a misdemeanor, it's very likely the team will allow the court system to run its course and it won't affect Fisher's status on the team.
Pro Bowler Mathis to miss start of season
Source: HoustonTexans.com
Texans Pro Bowl return specialist Jerome Mathis will likely miss the start of the 2006 season because of a stress fracture in his foot.
He will undergo surgery on Friday. Mathis was involved in a motorcycle accident in March, but had been back to practice in the meantime. He will be off his feet completly for eight weeks. WR Jake Schifino and rookie RB Wali Lundy are candidates to help on returns.
Bengals rookie charged with robbing ex-teammate

Bengals rookie LB A.J. Nicholson has been charged with stealing electronics from a former teammate.
He faces felony burglary. The Bengals were roundly criticized for drafting questionable players like Nicholson, a fifth-round pick who was already kicked off his team at Florida St. for sexual assault chargers and has plead no contest to a DUI arrest. With Chris Henry heading to court, the Bengals may consider releasing Nicholson to escape the P.R. hit.
Lions sign Verba to bolster offensive line
Lions signed T Ross Verba.
Verba sat out last season after refusing to play for less than $35 million. Terms aren't available, but we doubt this contract is worth one-fifth that much. It's a good value signing for Detroit. Verba has experience and could challenge Kelly Butler for the right tackle job this season and possibly take over for Jeff Backus on the left side if Backus leaves via free agency.
Cowboys sign RB Summers
Cowboys signed RB Demetris Summers.
Because he's a tailback, we have to pay attention. The former prep school and S. Carolina stud has had troubles with marijuana on the past, but will compete for a roster spot as a fourth running back in Dallas.
QB Pennington takes snaps at OTA
Source: Newark Star-Ledger
Chad Pennington took snaps at a non-contact team practice Tuesday.
The Jets didn't say how much he threw, but onlookers reportedly were impressed. He participated in 7-on-7 and team drills. The media will view Pennington at June 15-17 minicamp, so we'll be able to get a better idea of exactly where he is in his rehab soon.
Lions release Shaun King
Lions released Shaun King.
King was signed before Josh McCown and Jon Kitna as an insurance policy-type backup in the event the free agency period didn't go well. With Dan Orlovsky playing well, it was clear King wouldn't make the roster. The former Tulane second-rounder last started for the Cardinals in 2004.
Cowboys draft pick will miss season
Source: ESPN.com
Cowboys G E.J. Whitley, a seventh-round pick in the 2006 draft, will miss the 2006 with a torn ACL.
Whitley, a Texas Tech product who was converting to guard, was going to be used for depth in Dallas. He was the 224th player chosen overall.
Jets waive Kliff Kingsbury
Jets waived QB Kliff Kingsbury.
Getting rid of Kingsbury, a prolific collegiate passer who barely held a starting job with the Cologne Centurions of NFLE, leaves the Jets with four quarterbacks on the roster. Rookie Kellen Clemens will likely be the team's third quarterback while Brooks Bollinger could get cut if Chad Pennington is healthy.

Henry's trial delayed until August 21
Source: Bengals.com
Bengals WR Chris Henry's trial on a felony gun charge has been continued to August 21st.
The pre-trial hearing is August 8th. This means Henry will miss part of the preseason and possibly longer depending on how the trial goes. He also faces either jail time or a possible suspension, so he's easy to stay away from in summer fantasy drafts.

Ricky agrees to deal with Argonauts
Source: ESPN.com
Ricky Williams agreed to a one-year, $240,000 contract with the Toronto Argonauts.
The Argonauts have called a 4:30 press conference. Williams will be let out of the Argos' contract and be property of the Dolphins again after playing one season. Toronto's first game is June 16.
Santonio Holmes arrested for disorderly conduct
Santonio Holmes was arrested for disorderly conduct Friday night.
The Steelers first-round pick was supposed to be at Ohio State working out due to an NCAA-NFL agreement requiring collegiates turning pro to remain at school until graduation is held. The incident took place at a South Beach, FL hotel. It's unknown what specifically led to Holmes' arrest.
Ricky Williams update: Agent would be shocked if no CFL deal
Source: ESPN.com
Agent Leigh Steinberg "would be incredibly surprised" if Ricky Williams isn't a Toronto Argonaut soon.
Recent sightings of Williams, currently under suspension by the NFL for testing positive for a banned substance, have been reported in Toronto. The main obstacle for a deal is the CFL's requirement that players sign one-year contracts with club options. If Ricky signs with the Argos, he'll have to clear CFL waivers after this season to return to the Dolphins, who he still owes $8.6 million, in 2007.
