Briefs: Crosby is third Yankees outfielder to go on DL
May 19, 2006 NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees put Bubba Crosby on the 15-day disabled list Friday, the third outfielder they've sidelined in the last two weeks.
Sluggers Gary Sheffield (left wrist and hand) and Hideki Matsui (broken left wrist) were already out going into this weekend's Subway Series against the Mets.
The Yankees purchased the contract of outfielder Mitch Jones from Triple-A Columbus. A four-time All-Star in the minors, the 28-year-old Jones has never played in the majors.
Crosby hurt himself running out a hit in Thursday's 6-2 loss to Texas. He was hitting .263 in 31 games this season and, as a good defensive player, had seen regular action since Sheffield and Matsui were injured.
No need for Braves fans to worry amid negotiations
ATLANTA -- Stephen Greenberg, the point man for Time Warner's negotiations to sell the Atlanta Braves, says talks are progressing with "no hang-up whatsoever."
Greenberg would neither confirm nor deny that Time Warner is in exclusive talks with Colorado-based Liberty Media, though he spoke positively about the company that could become the Braves' next owner.
There have been local concerns that Liberty Media may see the Braves as more of a short-term tax benefit than a long-term investment.
