ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Troy Glaus left Sunday's game against Tampa Bay with a lower back injury.
"He should be OK," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "We'll go day to day and see how he is."
Glaus departed after the top of the fifth, three innings after shortstop Aaron Hill ran into him while the pair were chasing Aubrey Huff's pop foul down the left-field line.
"It's stiff. It's sore," Glaus said. "I don't know. It was bad enough that I couldn't continue today. I guess we'll see tomorrow."
Glaus tumbled to the ground after contact was made and was limping after he got up and started walking back toward the infield.
"I heard him, but too late," Glaus said. "He obviously didn't hear me. I heard him way too late."
Glaus hit twice after the collison, fouling out in third and striking out in the fifth. He is hitting .267 with 17 homers and 45 RBI.
Uecker files restraining order against woman
MILWAUKEE -- Hall of Fame announcer Bob Uecker filed a restraining order against a woman he contends has been harassing him for years and last week confronted him at a hotel pool over his refusal to assist her charity work.
A hearing is scheduled June 15, according to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Web site. Uecker, the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers for more than 35 years, filed a harassment injunction against Ann E. Ladd on Thursday, as first reported by the investigative website The Smoking Gun.
In court filings, the 71-year-old former player said Ladd has been bothering him for six or seven years by sending unsolicited gifts, driving around his home in Wisconsin and having contact with him in various cities.
"In the past year, however, Ladd's pattern of harassment has escalated in frequency and intensity, and has resulted in repeated and serious invasions of my personal privacy," he said.
He said the 45-year-old woman from Prospect Heights, Ill., recently approached him on what she said was a charity project involving a manuscript about him. She persisted, and he said he asked her to leave him alone. The next night at the stadium, Uecker said members of Major League Baseball security and the Pittsburgh police told her not to contact him. She said she didn't realize there was a problem and would stop.
Cubs put Williamson on DL, recall Marmol
ST. LOUIS -- Chicago Cubs reliever Scott Williamson was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday with tendinitis in his right elbow, an injury sustained on his last pitch the previous day.
The team recalled right-hander Carlos Marmol from Double-A West Tenn.
The 30-year-old Williamson is 2-2 with a 4.22 ERA in 23 games. He's scheduled to meet Monday in Cincinnati with Reds surgeon Tim Kremchek, who performed a pair of elbow reconstructions on Williamson.
Trainer Mark O'Neal said the injury was unrelated to those operations.
Marmol is 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA in 11 starts at West Tenn with 67 strikeouts in 58 innings.
"They told me he was throwing the best," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said. "He has real good stuff and I told him, 'Hey, it's the same game, trust your stuff and throw strikes.' "
Yanks' Chacon says he's ready after rehab start
TRENTON, N.J. -- Shawn Chacon said he felt ready to return to the Yankees' starting rotation after throwing five innings for Double-A Trenton in a rehabilitation start on Sunday.
The right-hander, working his way back from a hematoma on his left leg, allowed three earned runs, four hits and two walks while striking out three in the Thunder's 7-6 loss to Reading.
"I think I'm ready," he said. "It's not my call, but coming out and judging by the way I pitched with my fastball today, everything else seemed to fall into place after that."
Chacon averaged 87 mph on his fastball. He was scheduled to throw 75 pitches and ended up throwing 72. He threw 47 for strikes.
ChiSox put RP Nelson on DL, recall Montero
CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox placed veteran reliever Jeff Nelson on the 15-day disabled list because of a sore right elbow and recalled right-hander Agustin Montero from Triple-A Charlotte.
The 39-year-old Nelson allowed a run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings in six appearances since the White Sox purchased his contract from Charlotte on May 23. The 6-foot-8 right-hander ranks sixth among active pitchers with 798 career appearances.
Nelson agreed to a minor league contract with the White Sox on May 2 after being released by St. Louis on March 29.
Montero made his major league debut with the White Sox on May 12, and allowed three runs (one earned) and two hits over three innings in two appearances before being sent back to Triple-A. He is 2-1 with a 2.05 ERA and one save in 18 relief appearances for Charlotte.
