Per rotoworld:
The NBA has announced that beginning next season there will be fines levied for obvious "flops". No word on how much they will cost, whether the fines will escalate for repeat offenders, or whether suspensions will be an option.
Anderson Varejao's defensive abilities just decreased by 40%. Coincidentally (and ironically) Rasheed Wallace went on a post-game rant about flopping on Wednesday, for which he will likely be fined. A censored excerpt: "All that bull(bleep)-ass calls they had out there...you've all seen that (bleep)," Wallace said. "The cats are flopping all over the floor and they're calling that (bleep). That (bleep) ain't basketball out there. It's all (bleeping) entertainment." For once, it appears the league agrees with Sheed.

as annoying as it is, it's part of the game. You're going to have a lot of fines based on judgement calls. How about getting better f'n refs that won't call the flops?

I love it! Sideshow Bob on the Cavs better get started packing his bags and head back to Europe. Its hard to imagine him not owing the league money after a full 82 game season.

Next thing you know, you won't be able to defend someone within an arm's length because you're invading the offensive player's personal space.

This is questionable.
Its an interesting idea, but define "obvious". You could get a lot of complaints from players who swear he charged into them but the replays just don't show it. I'm not sure about it.

You're just mad cause all your Spurs are going to go broke. Ahahaha. I think a technical foul and a fine should be implemented.

If all of their refs weren't so whistle-happy this would never have to happen.

I like this rule if it is implemented correctly. Floppers like Manu Ginobli need to be penalized. But if the refs go apeshit in calling charges than this could be a real problem.

As I'm going to miss Joey Crawford sucking the Lakers off at halftime and not giving the proper foul call at the end of the game. If the Lakers win it all this year, asterisk big time, Game 4 was ridiculous.

Which referee mistake are you crying about?
Fisher's shot that hit the rim? Odom's block that was mistakingly called goal tending? Duncan's 5 step dunk from the top of the key? Kobe's 29 shot attempts without going to the line once?

Kobe travelling before Fisher's shot even occurred.
Odom's FOUL on Parker which was a goaltend and should've been an and 1. Duncan travelled, but it was in the first quarter, stop whining. The Spurs have allowed Kobe to dunk or drive all series long because he's a great foul shooter, so they've stayed away from fouling him. How about Gasol and co. reaching in on Duncan everytime he gets it downlow, and his free throw attempts. Oh yeah, and Fisher falling into Barry that in a shot that could've won the game (Barry had 23 points, a playoff career high), or, since it was on the floor, tied the game. That's kinda important to.
And the NBA released a statement today saying it should've been a foul, so I don't wanna hear any of the Laker fans excuses.

NBA refs are pathetic for every team, every year. To say that 'X' team gets all the calls is biased.

There's definitely a big market media bias and I feel the refs are influenced by it a little.
Its no secret the ratings for the Finals have been low and the NBA will have an orgasm over a Boston-L.A Finals. Look what they're gonna get probably now....
But your right Stork, I hate NBA refs, they need to be trained much better.
Another funny note, one article I read said two refs after one of the Lakers-Spurs games were POSING FOR PHOTOS with Denzel Washington (a Laker fan). You just don't do that, its crap like this that pisses me off. And thats just a little thing.
