Actually, Barry traveled on that play too 1. barry catches jump stop (lands with both feet). either foot can be a pivot, depends on which one he steps with first. 2. barry steps back with left foot. this means right foot is pivot, IT CANNOT MOVE WITHOUT A DRIBBLE. 3. barry steps with right foot BEFORE THE BALL BOUNCES. this = travel. Not goaltending.... If you want to play that game, I don't have video evidence like you do, but watch the last 20 seconds of the game. Kobe is being harassed by Manu and CHANGES his pivot foot once (if not twice) so that its a travel. Yeah you can use the "But Derek Fisher's shot hit the rim" but that happened after the Kobe travel. Or that wild shot Kobe threw up that led to that Parker fast break, did you notice on that ridiculous journey to the basket Kobe took 3 STEPS? The whole game was just f'd up beyond belief, and now the NBA is saying "Yeah we f'd up"...where is there even the debate?

No one is denying that the refs sucked. Your sob story about them favoring the Lakers is getting slapped out of the park though. If the refs were perfect beings the Lakers would have blown out the Spurs. I don't really have any doubt about that. The Lakers guards and Odom were in foul trouble all game. The FT disparity was in favor of the Spurs and the notion that the Spurs are just strategically deciding not to foul Kobe is comical. Every team tries not to foul Kobe. Yet somehow he seems to have a 5-6 career avg FT rate a game. Just like 04 when Shaq so famously declared "One lucky shot deserves another" in 08 the story is "One blown call deserves another" and it is as simple as that.

This is why I don't watch the NBA anymore. The league has no credibility when the league is even admitting that calls are wrong. Despite the fact I'm a huge Heat fan, I admit that the Mavericks got screwed in that series. The league sets up for good story lines like Shaq winning another title and Wade becoming the next Jordan. It's going to be a Celtics-Lakers Finals. The NBA wouldn't have it any other way and it's becoming as scripted as the WWE. And to be honest, if I were running a multi-billion dollar industry, I'd make sure that the best story lines emerge to increase revenue.
Sure, all teams get screwed over but you make and don't make certain calls at the end of games. If it's something as blatantly obvious as that, you call it. If it's something that's borderline, you don't call it and you let the players play. But a player jumping on top of another is something that should always be called. That's simply a foul in every minute of every game. Not meaning to take a shot at Kobe cause I actually respect the fact he's the best player in the game, if Barry flailed like Kobe, he would have significantly increased the chance he got the foul but even then, I'd wonder if he'd get it.
And... not every play gets drawn up perfectly. Barry got the ball because he was open. I trust Tim Duncan's decision making. I read that Barry had the hot hand in that game. Why wouldn't you at least consider going to him?

Nothing is more true than that Sirphawk. Players travel in the NBA like there's no tomorrow. I wonder if the NBA refs even know the rule properly.
Anyway, the Lakers are in the final because they won 4 games. Sure that the 3rd win was crap but it's hardly the first time a crappy win happened in the playoffs. If the Lakers win it all the asterisc is as fair as one on the last couple of champions too. It's admitted by everyone that the Heat got one of the biggest helps of all time by refs in a NBA finals and any spurs fan complaining now needs to remember that the Suns would have probably won the championship last season if it wasn't for the NBA suspensions. Shit happens. It just sucks more when it hits your team.

If the NBA has writers that cater to big media markets they sure have been doing a horrible job at it lately. New York seems like a pretty big market. What exactly is the motivation for making them one of the worst teams in the league the past 5-10 years? Why did they decide to bore the nation with the Spurs almost dynasty this decade? Which writer decided that it would be a great idea to place their most hyped young player (LeBron James) him into an offensive system that turned into a brick throwing jump shooter in the NBA Finals ?

Nothing is more true than that Sirphawk. Players travel in the NBA like there's no tomorrow. I wonder if the NBA refs even know the rule properly. Of course they know the rule properly, they are just told specifically to not enforce it. More traveling = exciting plays = more money. NBA doesn't give a shit about basketball, they just want to entertain people and make as much money as possible - which is a fantastic business model, but leads to a shell of the actual game of basketball. What we really need is a longer college basketball season.
