yea there are a lot of ppl that dont like PKs but i like the tension that Pks create and u never kno wat can happen Tension and unpredictability are cool, but personally I want to know that the team who played the best soccer won. PKs are basically saying "Ok, you guys have played pretty evenly so far - so lets just flip a coin and all go home."

Actually your example is funny because before they come up with the idea of breaking a tie with penalty kicks, in the old days, there used to be a coin flip.
I think penalty kicks aren't fair but other than keep playing forever like in NHL (which isn't realistic), there is no fair way to break a tie quickly.

Penalty kicks are what makes soccer special Whether its fair or not its great for the game. It made Australian soccer take off Please take 2:50 out of your day and look at this youtube of Australia vs Uruguay. This put Australia into its first world cup in a very very very long time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x1UPNi0bUQWatch it until the end

I think there is clearly a way to break the tie, why not keep playing more golden goal sessions and allow more subs. Each team has hella guys, but you will only see maybe 2 0r 3 come in tops. Allow more subs and play more minutes instead of PK's.
