Romar had a great year but I would have given the nod to Oregon St's coach for coach of the year given the talent he was left. Also whats up with a ten man all league first team, the honor losses meaning the more people they allow to be on it. Michelle Obama's brother? Granted he did a good job with what he had but the fact remains that no one, any where predicted the Huskies to finish first in the Pac-10 so Romar is really the most deserving candidate.

Romar is an easy choice. Oregon State didn't even come close to making the tourney. You can't give the title of coach of the year to a team who doesn't even make the tournament. Your setting the bar way to low. What happens if OSU gets in the tournament next season........... you would want him to get coach of the year again? The minimum has to be atleast a tourney bid. Saying that...... Romar would have to go undefeated for him to win again next year.

No team outperformed preseason expectations more than Oregon State and that includes Washington winning the PAC 10 title. If you flipped rosters for the two coaches do you really think Romar would have done any better given what Mr Obama in law had to work with?

Romar took a team picked to finished 5th and made them the best team in the Pac 10. Smith took a team that was really shitty and made them not so shitty 10 out of 10 times Romar wins. Huge difference from being pick 10th and finishing 7th. Then a guy picked 5th and finishing 1st. I would say that for any coach in any division. This award isn't for feel good story, its for who exceeded all expectations the most. And who got everything out of all their players. I think we can both say that both coaches got the best from their teams. But Romar winning the Pac 10 is far more impressive than a team finishing 7th out of 10 teams. If you disagree, then your just hating at this point

I'll have to agree. I hate to say it, but Romar deserved it by far. Not even close.

Of all the things to hate on in the world I'm going to choose a meaningless coach of the year award so I can pimp the guy from Oregon State. LOL.

He made a mistake, and this season is a recovery season. Saying that, he is still one of the most explosive young talents in the league. He is still on par with the Devin Harris, Derreck Rose, and OJ Mayo group. They are the second tier of top guards, behind Paul and Deron Williams. And that second tier is worth a max deal

And he never seen a player like Rochestie this year. So I ain't trippin. St. Mary's is going down, and we gonna say fuck it and win the NIT.
