Why would you want Terry Porter? He's not a college coach, he has no ties to WSU, can he recruit? Makes sense if it was Oregon, but not WSU. WSU is a school in the middle of the boondocks, name alone won't get people to come there. You guys need a proven NCAA coach IMO. WSU is one of the hardest sells because of location

Stop hating. And it's funny that you really think the bs that you're saying is true. But your flat out wrong. He's not a college coach? So the fuck what, he can coach. He was bounced from Phoenix because of his defensive style of ball. Something the Pac-10 is all about. No ties to WSU, you're wrong. He has indirect ties to WSU that you failed to research, but you just had to hate hate hate like a typical Fuskie that talks out of their ass.
Terry Porter was an understudy of Dick Bennett, the father of WSU's recent success. He played and got his style of coaching from Bennett, which is why Porter is a defensive minded coach. He has NW ties, and wants to coach in the Pac-10. Bennett, who still has an ear to the AD recommended TP. So WSU makes sense.
As of location, are you kidding me? Tell that to kids that go to South Bend, Durham, Lubbock, etc that build success at college towns. It's about tradition. If we can build a tradition, then location doesn't matter. Pullman is a fine place, and had a great time my 5 years there. It's about winning. But it seems that you have a thing against college towns or something. College towns are awesome, and I wouldn't take my experiences back. I live in the big city now, so I appreciate that part of my life. But to say we can get anyone because we're in Pullman is a stretch.

If location mattered, then shouldn't University of San Francisco have a better program?

It matters when your trying to get black athletes to go play basketball in the middle of the boondocks. Hate to pull the race card, but look at the numbers of black athletes. If your giving a kid the choice to play in Seattle, Oregon, or Pullman, they will chose Washington or Oregon well before Pullman. And thats just two other locations. Not to mention Spokane, Anywhere in California, Arizona, or even smaller schools in the west coast conference are more appealing to most athletes than Pullman. Look at the big recruits WSU has ever had for basketball, you will see they are all kids who originally are from the sticks or are lower level recruits from the city.
I'm not hating, just telling the truth. You need a coach who is a recruiting genius. Someone who can sell sand to a beach. Plus Porter is a guy who would just use your school as a stepping stone......... do you really want that again?

What major school is in San fran? Are they going to go to Sonoma State? Or maybe Dominican College? Or what about San Jose State? There is no major D1 college in San Fran. Granted Stanford and Cal are neighboring schools. But Cal is a football school, and Stanford is damn near impossible to get into.
Location is a big part, but isn't number one. But if you aren't a major player in hoops, and on top of that your in the middle of the boondocks.................... then whats the allure?

Yeah, that makes no sense. Then the A-10 conference would be powerhouses. OT makes a great point. I hear ya sims, and you make a great point about black athletes. Which is why my point is that you have to build a tradition. I tell you this, if you can tell a young brotha that you just went to the tourney, had numerous players drafted in the NBA, and you go to the tourney every year, but he has to play in a small town that he will be a God, and co-ed everywhere, that kid is not going to care too much where he plays, because the ultimate goal is winning, and getting to the NBA. But you're right, the current state WSU is in, it's hard attracting black athletes. That's why Porter would be a great hire for recruiting, and being a somewhat successful coach in the NBA. Porter is a legend in the NW. Kids would come IMO.

If we hire Bone, I'm going to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge... Are you serious? He is a great NW recruit, who has a great mind, and is a guy kids want to play for. You should look at his resume before you judge him. He's just as qualified as Bennett, he just needs a chance

The Doms are in san francisco moron. Same conference as Gonzaga. Thats a huge city and even had wilt chamberlin I believe, why can't they get good recruits? Why can't they steal ballers from Oakland or point reyes and shit. Wouldn't have to have the grades of cal or stanford.

Yeah Jackass, but they aren't Gonzaga and aren't a major college for basketball. Go smoke another blunt, your input is not needed in this convo. You make no sense

You point was that you have to have a great town to get recruits dipshit, so that is a big town, with no other colleges except cal and stanford nearby that is division 1. So how does a big city like that not get recruits, especially since it use to have tradition.
