Congrats, we Couged it.
It was fun while it lasted. The last 3 years were great!
I'll like to officially welcome us back to the cellar of the Pac-10.
I knew this would happen...

I think it's a great coaching move, Ken Bone lead a very competitive Portland State team to the tourney two years in a row. I'm not sure who you expected to want to go to Washington State, but Bone is better choice than most other realistic candidates out there.

This is my issue:
Washington State Athletic Department:
Jim Sterk - Athletic Director hired from Portland State. Anne McCoy - Associate Athletic Director hired from Portland State Paul Wulff - Head Football Coach hired from Eastern Washington Ken Bone - Head Basketball Coach hired from Portland State Donny Marbut - Head Baseball Coach - Portland State alumnus
You see a trend here? We're turning into the Big Sky conference thanks to Jim Fucking Sterk. I don't like the direction our program is going.

What does that have to do with the fact that you got the best coach your program could get. I think you have a false thought in your head that WSU is on the same level of Michigan, or Oregon, or Cal. You guys are a very low level program, that is a stepping stone. That is just the truth. This isn't a UW vs WSU thing, it's just the truth. Look at the history of your programs, when have you ever had big name coaches who started off as big names when they came to WSU?
You have to face reality. Though your in the Pac 10 for all sports, your school is the bottom rung for desired D-1 jobs

Sims, don't get me started, Mr. 0-12. The Huskies fielded the worst team in the history of the Pac-10. So before you talk about bottom rung, look at your school first.
Anyways, the reason will not like this move is that I will only accept the best. Period. And I was spoiled when I was at school, we we were a national powerhouse in football for a good 3 seasons, so I know what we're capable of. The problem is that we have accepted mediocrity. But I will not. I will be a passionate fan, and call it how it is. Sims, you went to UW, and if you saw something like this going on, wouldn't you bitch? Its that thinking that you mentioned that dooms us, when if you can build success and a tradition of winning, than people will come. Period. Just we have the perception of that no one won't come to WSU, doesn't mean I'm going to accept it.
I think if I were to gloat about Bone being a great hire, you would of been like that's a terrible hire. So I accept that you will always be on the opposite side of an argument of mine, so you statements really don't mean that much to me.

You fail to realize that in the 90's UW, was what USC is now! So the Huskies football program has history, and is very very desired by solid coaches! UW basketball is on the rise since 2002. Look at the winning percentage of the dogs, and the tourney apperences. UW Baseball and softball are both very very good programs, and have won national title last season for Softball.
So UW as a program looks pretty damn good to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing is sims is that you're right. Here's what I wrote on the Seattle Times forum responding to someone saying I bitch too much about this:
LOL OK. Maybe we bitch, because we see OUR FOOTBALL TEAM GO TO ****, AND NOW WE HAVE A BONE HEAD COACH! Do you honestly believe that Bone is the best head coach that we could of got. The answer is no. And yes, I will bitch, cry, moan until I see a success. I was spoiled when I was at school. I got to see great years in football, and saw what our school is capable of if we have the right personell in place. And for those 9 coaches that were interviewed, I wonder how many were head coaches are assistants from the Big Sky, or mid majors in the region.
That's really sad that you mentioned to me to go be a Husky fan, because we bitch and moan etc. When the fanbase bitch and moan, than the fans are holding the administration accoutable. That's why the Huskies get good recruits, and have a national championship, etc. I really hate you have me defending the Huskies, but the truth is that they may bitch an moan, but they have success with that. You look at all the great programs around the country, what is the difference between them and other schools? They have a passionate fanbase that will "bitch and moan" about things they don't like, and won't just accept what's being put in front of them, like we've obviously have. It may seem that the fanbase of the successful schools are unruly, and expectations are too high, but why not? It's what makes it a successful program with the expectations are high. So why you question my loyalty, I guess I'll question yours. Because you obviously have accepted mediocrity. We in the Pac-10 for christ sakes. We can make some freaking noise. And I will call it how I see it. I felt the same way when Doba was named head coach. People were like, "ah c'mon man, give him a chance. He going to keep the same way Price did, you're being unreasonable..." etc. And look what happened. So, since you guys have already accepted mediocrity, and mad at people like myself and a couple others who are telling the truth, I will still call it how it is, and I will only accept the best from my school, and not just settle for whatever.

Its not about you settling, it's about you realizing that the only way you can get to the top, is to start at the bottom! You think one good football season and 3 good basketball seasons in a span of 50 yrs, makes your school worthy of more than what they have gotten. The Cougs are a long ways away from having any tradition, and until then they will have no appeal

And before you go and call Bone a bad hire, reminder Lorenzo Romar came from a small school called St.Louis. And he is now a top 3 recruiter/coach in the Pac 10 behind UCLA, and USC
