As far as Rage, can't beat "Bulls on Parade", although "Maria" comes close. I saw Rage last summer at Rock the Bells in LA...fucking epic. Wish I was there, they're my favorite band. I have their live DVD, its insane how much energy that band has throughout the entire show.

I'm not a fan of Eminem's latest single but Bill O" Reily's mock outrage about it is hilarious

saw blackalicious live, there A - through Z thing is sick with it. LOL, funny you brought up living legends. I partied with them and actually hosted an underground/online radio station in college and played a lot of there stuff. Played a lot of Kottonmouth Kings as well, those guys are pretty good. As far as the above stuff I have heard of most of it except for some guys from the last paragraph. And Dead Prez are sick as shit, love how they speak of real shit. Tired of the I roll on 20 inch blades and I got hoes bullshit. Play some real shit that means something, thats what I like.

And I thought I was going to inform you about some rap music. hahaha...i'm with you on the lyrical stuff though...i'm so sick of the materialistic bullshit...i mean i understand why one might want to brag about material possessions when they come from nothing, and it's probably just a reflection of society in general, but still, I prefer my music actually means something. Last few rap/hip hop albums I bought are these, and I highly recommend them all: 1. Gang Starr "Mass Appeal: The Greatest hits" 2. J Dilla "Ruff Draft" 3. Tha Alkaholiks "Coast II Coast" 4. Lateef "Ahead of the Curve" 5. Blackalicious "The Craft" 6. Roots Maneuva "Run Come Save me"

Hmmmm, very interesting discussion so far. For those who say that there aren't any lyrical rappers today, then all you need to do is listen to Evidence. I think he's the best right now. Especially the Layover, that's one of the best albums I've ever heard. Him and Alchemist are a awesome team right now. Alchemist is one of my favorite producers of all time. I put him up there with RZA and Havoc for me. Anyways, if it wasn't for the rap crap on the radio today, Evidence would be talked about being the best out right now. Unfortuanetly, because of him being white, people will try to compare him to Eminen, but I just think he's the best right now period. Dude is sick, and there's no deny him. Reppin the westside, dude is from LA, and he used to be in Dilated Peoples. But he's really come into his own. To see what I mean, check out this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=st8SlIhxO-EKid Kudi is pretty sick too. I he might be a love him or hate him rapper, but he is someone I'm feeling right now. You probably heard his sound, Day and Night. That song is alright, but it's his other shit that I like, and can't wait til his album comes out this summer. The Sky Might Fall is one of my favorite songs right now, another great production by Kanye. If Kanye can keep his ego from getting in the way, he and his crew can re-establish some lyrical hip hop back into the mainstream, because right now, it's pretty bad. And I think Kanye at time falls to doing some stupid shit, when he should focus on not trying to "keep it real", and make some great music that he's capable of doing. Check out Sky Might Fall: www.youtube.com/watch?v=crGTNC19uokYoung Jeezy is the best out of the mainstream rappers, and I think he's very underrated. He's very talented, and he can get very lyrical and say some sick shit. I think it's easy to lump him in the rappers people see as mainstream, and that he just does adlibs in all of his songs. But nodody else does it like him. He's definitely the realest out of some of the mainstream rappers right now, and I would say give him a chance, dude is spittin, and there's no deny him: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHDz_3MRbe4My problem with rap is the message it's sending to the masses. Because unfortunately, some people can't just listen to it as the great music that it is, but will actually embrace that lifestyle. I think that some rappers should have some sense of responsibilty, but with that said, they have every right to put out something that people like, and is going to make them money. It's up to parents, and people listening to understand that it's an art form, and that all it is. They're trying to sell a lifestyle to the masses, and it's up to the listener to understand that.

Now, for the other music that I'm listening to, reggae and dancehall. Dancehall is making a huge impact and is tapping into the mainstream, and alot of people are taking notice, even some rappers. When you talk about dancehall, you have to start with Movado and Vybz Kartel. People think of mainstream dancehall, and think of Sean Paul. He's good, but there's are some better than him. Movado is a very very talented artist. And he's is the best reggae/dancehall artist right now. Rolling Stone tagged him as the best reggae/dancehall artist to come out of Jamaica since Bob Marley. That might seem like a stretch to someone who doesn't follow that music today, and just think of Bob Marley with reggae, but when you listen to Movado's music, then you'll know why. Dude range is amazing, and his he's really spittin lyrics right now. You probably heard his song, I'm On the Rock. Amazing song, so good that Jay-z did a remix to the song. If you remember Rampage Jackson last fight, he used that song to come out, which made me appreciate Rampage alot more than I already do. I'm on The Rock, What Dem a Do, and I'm So Special are some songs to listen to. Check this out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx_6i-sH4Zk&feature=PlayList&p=73AECCDD514497FE&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=6Other artist like Vybz Kartel, Collie Budz, Alborosie, Mr. Easy, Erupt, Sizzla, Junior Reid are some reggae/dancehall artist that are sick. Vybz and Movado are in a artist feud right now, which has died down a bit, but it was bitter, and they actually had a battle on stage a few months ago that was amazing. But if you want to listen to some reggae/dancehall, then start with the artist I listed.

most rappers weren't respected in the 90s either. that's not really true unless you're talking on a super commercial mainstream level but the 90's was looked at as the peak of respect for lyrical rappers such as... I'm talking about rap as a genre. eventhough those rappers were respected by people with an open mind the average music fan that didn't like rap still didn't respect rap despite those artists. Many people simply refuse to accept rap because they don't play an instrument. didn't I send you an ass load of 3-6 a while back

Green Day's new single sucks. Like more than "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" sucks. That's saying something.

anyone ever listen to Atmosphere?
I've been listening to them (him, actually) alot for about the last 6 months......Atmosphere is an underground rap group from Minnesota.....if anyone wants any of their music I can upload the mp3's to a ftp site......
the thing I like about Atmosphere is he doesn't rap about the shit that these other idiots do....nothing about bling or money or cars or bitches.........no rap videos where the song just brags about themselves with fancy cars bouncing around and nearly naked women everywhere.....he raps about real life things in a really entertaining way....
