Do you really think he is going to choose to take classes? Be real guy, as soon as he gets the money he is going to think he is a baller and most likely blow it,lol. How many mature 17 year old's do you know? They get that kind of money and think there the shit and will waste it, but its his money so who gives a shit. I just think this will start younger and younger players to try and do this. And say fuck school. Whose to say he's not? If he doesn't. then isn't that his choice? Be mad at the kids who drop out to hangout with there buddies. Be mad at the kids who dropout because they got pregnant. be mad at the kids who dropout to sell drugs. Don't get mad at the kid who drops out to start a profession where he will make around a million dollars, and be in position to make much more As for being real, I know 30 yrs old who just got a diploma from High school. As I said before, our system is setup so anyone can get a diploma at any point in there life. It takes a few weeks, and one simple test. It's not the end of the road, especially for the fact that this kid is going into a positive profession.

jennings is still projected as a top pick so I dont think it hurt his stock any and he's probably improved his game playing against professionals The problem is Jennings has been riding the pine more than actually getting into real games. He's only averaged around 18 minutes per game for Lottomatica Roma where he would have probably gotten 30+ had he gone to college. Still I am against the age limit in the NBA, it's basically a partnership between the NBA and NCAA to milk this young athletes for all their worth.

Ricky Rubio avg 13.9 in the euro league and 22 in the ACB. Most euro players don't play many minutes.

I wouldn't exactly call the NBA or pro baskeball a positive profession. LOL, are you kidding me? Not even for financial reasons, but look at it for bringing our world closer together. Hell look at what its done for our country. Just think 15 years ago, a guy like Allen Iverson would never be welcomed into most peoples homes. Due to the fact that he was black, with corn rows, and tattoos. Now you see Lebron James going to dinner with Warren Buffet. Basketball has taught black people that not all rich white people are the oppressors. And it taught white people that kids from the ghetto, who sag their pants aren't Thugs. Look at the NBA 10 years ago, and compare it to now. We have black coaches, and black GM's. That could never be, if it wasn't for basketball bringing people together. You have companies like Microsoft teaming up with athletes to endorse their computers (not to endorse the sport), You have major banks and credit cards using athletes to promote their product (not to promote their sport) For the fact that these companies owned by people who people thought were the oppressors, need the black, hispanic, Chinese, female, ect, ect to promote their product is so amazing to me. Sports has opened so many doors for every race, and both genders. If an athlete never made a dollar, it would still be a positive profession in my eyes. Because its bringing social classes together, that without sports, they would look at each other as Thugs and oppressors. So please, please tell me how basketball is not a positive profession?

LOL, they endorse it because its a multi-million if not multi-billion dollar industry, and lots of people watch games so its easy to setup up tons of avertising between basketball games, compared to a regular commercial you see in the day.
And if you haven't noticed, the NBA has tried everything they possibly could to change of the image of the players, making it mandatory for them to where business suits on the sidelines and shit. Another reason why they don't show many baskeball players wearing there normal clothes, sagging their pants and shit, so it isn't showing white people that because black people sag their pants aren't thugs.
There are some athletes that do good for the community and shit, but on the most part the media portrays these guys as some kind of hero or role model, when there really not role models what so ever. Even though kids grow up thinking they are, but the idea is miscontrued because these guys do stupid shit all the time like drinking and driving, when they clearly have enough money to call a cab or a limo. I would bet a high percentage of NBA players cheat on their wives too, that sounds like some good morals for the community and kids. That is bringing the world together as we speak.
And when talking about black coaches and Gm's, that isn't bringing the world together, that is just the process of people to stop using old prejudices towards a mans color and give the right guy the job no matter what he looks like. I'm sorry it is just happening now that these men are given these positions, because they should have been given the oppotunity a long time ago.
Hopefully you don't take this statement the wrong way, it is more of a statistic, but the NBA is predominately African-American, which doesn't bother me, their better players and athletes, but that is the reason why these companies are putting these guys on their endorsements and stuff, not becuase there trying to bring the world together because how many actual white superstars are really in the NBA? The main superstars are African-American, so those are the top guys companies go after to endorse their products, because those advertisements will be on commercial breaks between their games.

smart kid.....
the NBA rule is likely illegal....
more kids either need to challenge the rule or skip college to play pro ball in europe....or in this case high school...
great decision by this kid......pretending to be a college student for 1 year is a waste and a slap in the face to actual student-athletes...

yeah, the rule is stupid, and its a sham by the NCAA AND the nba owners. You know the NCAA is clamoring for a 2 year rule. I dont think you will ever see a major flux of players going overseas vs. playing at college. For one, college is fun as hell, and living in european countries is probably a major culture shock for most of these kids and i cant imagine the experience is as rewarding as playing in college.

I like the rule and I'd like to see it expanded to mirror the NFL's rule: No players in the league that aren't 3 years out of high school.

Agreed, you should only be eligible after your junior year.

How's that fair to the kids?
How can you let 18 year old euro players in but require Americans to be 21.
Should all actors finish 3 years of college?
Why use ncaabb as a minor league? Then exploit the kids in college as cheap labor for a billion dollar industry.
