How much cap space did they lose by making that trade? I think people just think they could have used that space on David Lee or the Polish Hammer.

I agree about lost cap space, but cap space started at 2 positions for us last year and didn't fare so well.
In an ideal world sure, we sign those guys, but the FA's just don't line up to come to memphis and Heisley isn't gonna overpay for marginal level talent. as he shouldn't. Lee is good, but not great. I have heard he was asking for a crazy deal, so I am glad we did SOMETHING for a change.

Ariza's agent is such a clown. He's meeting with Houston right now which last time I checked can offer him at most the same "disrespectful" salary figure that the Lakers already gave him. If Ariza is already getting bigger offers from Toronto or Portland he wouldn't be wasting his time in Houston.

He knows the Lakers can offer more, can you blame him for giving it a shot?

Looks like the Lakers just signed Artest so I hope it was his true feelings rather than a transparent agent ploy for his sake. I hope he ends up getting paid by the Thunder. Ariza, Westbrook, Durant and Harden would be sick in 4-5 years. www.cbssports.com/

He can't be going just for the money cause I'm sure someone would give Artest more the MLE.

Wow. Lakers are gonna be super good next year. That's crazy. Lakers GM is earning his pay the last few years.

It's easier to bring a player to LA though. It's not like he is convincing people to come to minnesotta lol

I have questions as to, well, just the sanity of Artest and if he can adjust to the triangle offense, and whether he'll accept his "role" like Ariza did. That said, Ariza will be not great in Houston, that team is a trainwreck right now.

Meh, Artest can be a chemistry killer if something goes wrong. This makes the Lakers a front runner for the finals again, but it could also cause them to implode.
