Hey guys. I've currently in the process of purchasing a new TV and I'm also very interested in getting a Blu-Ray player as well. The TV I'm getting is a 32' LCD Vizio and I was wondering if Blu-Ray really makes the experience all the more better or if just your standard DVD is more than satisfying? For the blu-ray supporters, what model do you have, and what are the pros and cons of it you'd say?

My parents have a Sony at home. I prefer it to DVDs. The picture quality is definitely better and even I think the sound is a little better...? That could just be me, but when I use a DVD I feel like I have to crank the volume way up and its annoying...
PS When I was getting ready to start college out 3 years ago, it was at that same time that Vizios were just starting to come out and I got a 32 incher for $400 from Circuit City. Pretty sick deal I thought...

Honestly if you're getting a Blu Ray player the PS3 is the best deal out there. Even if you're not a gamer, it comes with wifi so you can stream music and movies from your computer and you can also use the PS3's built in browser to surf the net and watch flash videos on the net.
Blu Ray does make a big difference, plus if you have a lot of older DVDs they may look terrible on your new HDTV.
Are you getting the Vizio with VIA? I got the 47" with VIA.

Its your decision to get what you want with the TV, but I am not a huge fan of the Vizio's. There is a reseason they are so cheap. I'm also a bigger fan of an LCD flat screen with 1080p, compared to Plasma or anything else.
Also, you have to think about the HD viewing. You have to have a certain box and package with TV to have those channels and it is unbelievably worth it. I can't watch anything non-HD now.
When I bought my flat screen, I had the guy wheel out all the brands and put them on what I would be watching the most, sports, all right next to each other.
I ended up getting a JVC that to me had the same picture quality as the top of the line Sony version and the panasonic.
I also, agree with everybody else about getting the PS3 version, I heard its a better blu-ray player as well and for pretty much the same price, not to mention the hard drive on it, so you can do a lot of things with it, if you look into more.

Another point in favor of the PS3 is that if you want a 3D capable Blu Ray player the PS3 will be getting a firmware upgrade for that while you would have to purchase a completely new Blu Ray player for any of the older models.
