What are some of the greatest concerts you've ever been to?
I just went to my first one, believe it or not, this past week to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Had a blast.
Who have you seen/recommend. Who sucks?

Who sucks? Went to Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos in 2006, that was good times...saw a washed-up Offspring, as well as Dropkick/Dillinger Escape Plan/etc. TOC really turned me onto Deftones for the first time, and I was really into Thrice and Atreyu at the time. Gob shows are fun, but I've had some negative consequences. (Lost a tooth, lost my glasses, lost my job.) Two years ago I went to New york specifically to see the Faith no More reunion tour. Kinda disappointing, though no fault of the band's (the chick I was taking stood me up and it was like 45 degrees that weekend).

Saw RHCP in Memphis a month or so ago, always wanted to see them, kinda sad I missed Frusciante with them, but the new guy was killing. As a bass players Flea is the shit, was cool to see them do their thing.
Concerts are my thing, my wife and I have been to literally hundreds over the last 10 years.
I have seen lots of great ones, and some that were not so great. Hard to say anyone "sucks", but I don't generally enjoy a concert that is like just sitting there listening to the CD.
I think right now the best big show touring rock band is the Foo Fighters. Their show is hard to beat, just kick ass for 3 hours.
Probably my all time favorite show though was The Black Crowes, when i got to see them here in Oxford for a concert series called "the artist den" which comes on PBS or some shit. Its big bands in small venues, it was kick ass.
Worst show I have ever seen? Probably Stone Temple Pilots right before they broke up, which was sad b/c I loved them, but they came out and shit on the stage, it was not good. Scott Weiland was talking shit to the crowd at one point for not applauding him enough. Very strange.

One of the more disappointing shows I ever saw was Rancid opening for Rise Against a few years back. Last show of the tour and Rancid sucked...Tim Armstrong's voice was completely shot to the point where he wasn't even singing on half the songs. The RA set wasn't BAD bad, but it had clearly been watered down and catered to sixteen-year-old girls who liked "Standing on a Rooftop." And to top it all off the venue was a shitty stadium with seats miles from the stage and overpriced beer tents.

It was a greatest hits collection with some new stuff thrown in, just about perfect. I would love to see 'Foo' live as well. I've heard they put on a great show. "System of a Down", one of my favorite all-time bands, is coming to the area in a few months. Would love to see them. It sounds like Serj has lost some power and versatility but he's still got a really great voice. Would love to go to more quality shows now that I've got one under my belt.

The most recent concerts I've gone to were James Blake, SBTRKT, and the legendary Crystal Method...I'd recommend them all. SBTRKT might be my favorite act to emerge in quite some time. It isn't for everybody though. It's kind of downbeat electro mixed with Soul music.
The next concert I'm going to is a doozy...in early June I'm seeing Radiohead/Caribou in concert, which I'm really fucking excited about since Radiohead might be my favorite group ever and I've never seen them in concert.
The best show I've ever gone to was Rock the Bells in 2007 in Los Angeles, where I saw Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill, Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy, The Roots, Nas, Talib Kwelli, Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, Damian Marley, EPMD, Pharohe Monch, Immortal Technique...among others. An incredibly incredibly fucking epic show. Unreal, actually. I still can't believe I was actually there. I was high the entire time, too.
A couple years ago I saw Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp...i'm not a huge fan of any of them but it was pretty epic just because of who they are.

Snoop - twice Ice cube West side connection Bone Thugs Xibit 50 cent Nelly Nappy Roots Jay- z, not a big fan, went to see 311, not him, haha. 311 - 3 times Eagles Eric Clapton Mickey Avalon Slightly Stoopid Red hot chili peppers Dirt Nasty Green day - twice Blink 182 - 3 times Jimmy Eat World Save Ferris Relient K Flogging molly Eminem - twice Goldfinger Tech n9ne Brotha lynch Andre nickatina pepper Krs one Living Legends at a party and met black eyed peas before Fergi Uncle kracker Kenny Chesney Sugarland Brooks and dunn All the marleys Steel pulse Matisyau Maroon 5 Wailers in Mandalay bay pool at night smoking J's in Vegas, lol DMX Rakhim Nas
Warp tour twice saw:
nofx, less than jake, vandals, good charlotte (pre mtv), Agent orange, alkaline trio, penny wise (craziest mosh pit I have ever been in, awesome, lost my shoe and had to walk 3 miles afterwards.) Skank and pickle, I am sure there is more.
Been to a lot to say the least. Stood 3 feet away to the side of Suge Knight at the Tech n9ne concert, lol. Guy is huge.
Best concerts were probably green day, cause they picked guys from the pit who could play guitar and played Long view and old school songs off dookie, and the lead singer crowd surfed while singing it.
Eagles and Clapton were dope. Eminem was pretty ridiculous, think people would have rioted if he told him to do so.
Best though was halloween at the Boo bomb concert in San Jose. Xibit, Ice cube, west side connection, bone thugs got back together, and snoop. The shark tank was a giant hot box, lol.

Nice list Slough, I saw Green day/blink/JEW all on tour together when I was in high school, it was the shit. It was in alabama, so billy joe was fucking with them about being in alabama, shit was funny.
I saw Snoop dog at a frat house here, it was kinda weird, b/c it was literally 100% white dudes other than Snoop and his crew. But still awesome to see him in such a small setting.
311 is a band that I really like and have never seen in person, had a lot of chances, just never worked out.

Scott Weiland was talking shit to the crowd at one point for not applauding him enough. Very strange. When it comes to Scott Weiland, nothing is weird. This seems par for the course. Or perhaps even a good day.

Or perhaps even a good day. Good point. I saw them at Memphis in May and they were awesome that time, but this next time was a stadium show and I think he went back to rehab shortly thereafter. Oh, also can't forget Drive By Truckers as one of my all time favorite shows, seen them probably 15 times, always awesome.

Not a big Dave fan, most of his stuff sound the same to me. Can't stand U2 either. I would go if a gf wanted to go and paid for my ticket is the only way, lol.

I can understand not liking Dave, I agree most of his stuff sounds the same. "War" by U2 is one of the finest records I've heard though. Would definitely like to see them live sometime.

Add System of a Down to the list. Got about 100 feet or so from the stage. Surreal experience being that close to the band that got me into music to begin with. Tankian's voice hasn't lost an ounce of power, something I had originally feared. Tremendous set.
