Add System of a Down to the list. Got about 100 feet or so from the stage. Surreal experience being that close to the band that got me into music to begin with. Tankian's voice hasn't lost an ounce of power, something I had originally feared. Tremendous set. Where did you go? My brother works at the Susquehanna Center (formally known as the Tweeter Center) in Camden. He supervises parking lots and get to see a lot of eye candy.

Haha there wasn't really eye candy there last night, just a lot of metal chicks, but yep, that's the venue I went to! I'm sure when country concerts roll around the eye candy is plentiful haha.

Oh yeah, was just saying that in general...ha, he can get people he knows in for free...because parking is outrageous.

Country shows at the S-Center do have plentiful eye candy. The Brad Paisley show had a lot ( I think it was last year)
Acts I've seen that have just been awesome live: Bruce Springsteen (every time) Hooters (every time) Weird Al Yankovic (every time) J Geils Band Billy Joel Jimmy Buffett (some of this is the audience, but still electric) Brad Paisley Beach Boys The Roots RUN DMC (back in the day) Moody Blues
Bad: Darryl Hall (with Oates closing the Spectrum - Hall's voice was god-awful) Skid Row Michael Bolton ( went with the ex-wife for her birthday, and I knew it would be awful going in)
Lots of acts were solid, but nothing spectacular, so they aren't listed.
The band that most surprised me as to how good they were was another one I went to with the ex-wife. Air Supply was a really enjoyable show. And very solid on the eye candy for the era.

Add "Device", "Buckcherry", "Cheap Trick", "Alice in Chains", and "Soundgarden" to the list. All yesterday.
Mainly went to see AIC and "Soundgarden" but went early to a day festival to catch "Device" since I liked their first album they just put out.
"Buckcherry" sucked, their lead singer came across as a total narcissistic tool. "Cheap Trick" was fun but felt out of place.
AIC was ridiculously good. William DuVall sounds so much like Layne Staley it's eerie. "Soundgarden" was also phenomenal, it's amazing the notes Chris Cornell can hit with such effortless ease.
Had pit tickets (only 100 bucks! Well worth it) and got within 10 feet of members of those bands at times. Unreal experience, although I feel like I definitely experienced permanent hearing damage. Oh well.

I've seen a few really good bluegrass concerts this year
Greensky Bluegrass in NOLA
Old Crow Medicine Show in Houston
Split Lip Rayfield in Austin
I'm not sure if very many people on here even know those guys
I've also seen JJ Gray twice in the last year and he rocks the shit live

I drove through Tulsa earlier and it reminded me of the outdoors Deftones show I saw there a decade ago. Damn, that was awesome. I saw the Deftones have a new album out.

their original bassist died a few weeks ago....
their first album (Adrenaline) is still a thing of beauty and I think under-appreciated. That album essentially started the new metal crazy in the late 90's.
I still use 7 words or Bored or Engine #9 to get jacked up before a basketball game
if anyone isn't familiar with it, I highly suggest checking it out.
