From the St. Petersburg Times...
Former Florida State star Alexander Johnson, who surprisingly slipped to the middle of the second round of last month's NBA draft, has been so impressive in summer league games that he's earned a two-year, player-friendly contract from Memphis.
"Things happen, but I'm satisfied," he said Tuesday of his being selected 45th by Indiana and traded that night to Portland and then to the Grizzlies. "I'm glad I've signed. I'm good now. I'm not looking back. I'm happy and working hard and just trying to earn a living."
Although Memphis didn't release terms, Johnson, 24, is expected to make nearly $425,000 guaranteed this season. The team must guarantee the second year by Aug. 1, 2007 or lose him.
If it does keep him, Johnson, 24, would be a restricted free agent in 2008 instead of 2010 as a first-round pick. It's the second contract that means a big payday.
In his first five summer games in southern California, the 6-foot-9, 240-pound Johnson averaged 12.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 20 minutes.

I have a feeling that this kid is really going to change things around for the better here in Memphis.
Okay sorry, I'm bored.
