rumors have us trading for him. people seem to be split 50-50 as to who wins, if either team. If the rumored trade is correct (Z-Bo for Darko and Jaric) I think the grizz should do it. Z-Bo is a headcase and can't play D, but he's an all-star talent on the offensive end. Jaric is a backup and Darko seems to lack the mental toughness needed to be successful. I've seen people say why trade gasol for cap and then turn around and trade for Z-Bo, but those are 2 completely different cases because we're trading salaries for Z-Bo and not cap space (granted his contract is longer than Darko's).
Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, and Kevin Love for Z-BO, Mayo, Marc Gasol, Antoine Walker, Darrell Arthur, cap space, and another Lakers 1st doesn't seem too bad of a "trade."

new rumors have the grizz wanting a 1st. i think the grizz must be trying to price themselves out. Don't know how they can ask for a 1st when they're already getting the best player. I can't see the knicks being that desperate to move him

grizz fans are insane if they dont do darko and jaric for zbo. His contract is only 1 year longer i think, plus he provides the inside scoring we so deperatly need. I am so sick of not wanting a player for off court reasons, shti we have to get PLAYERS, forget about the rest, we need PLAYERS.

i think jaric's contract is the same length with darko's being one year shorter. Z-bo can't play defense, but he'd instantly be our best inside scorer and rebounder, yet some people don't want him because they view him as a "cancer." we need talent and z-bo has it while only being 27.

yeah, nobody over there has anything constructive to say, just a bunch of fucking run around. They can tthink of a good reason to not have zbo other than his personality. They are under the allusion the grizz will sign some top tier FA next off season when there are a number of teams (better, playoff contenders) who will have money.
i am not making excuses for zbo, but he has never been in a "good" situation IMO. He was always viewed as the last of the cancers from portland that they needed to get rid of. He was bascially on the block publicly his entire time there. Then he gets traded to the terrible situation that was isiah and the knicks. Again, he has made some mistakes, but he has proven he can be an all star caliber player and maybe with the right situation he can walk a straight line.
Either way he is >>>>>>>>darko and jaric. I mean its no comparison, and his contract is only 1 extra year.

gasol is a better passer. Z-Bo is a better rebounder. i don't know how z-bo acts on the court, but gasol is afraid to bang and complains to the refs anytime some one touches him

Some of the biggest whiners in the NBA right now are the reigning MVP and the best PF of all time I don't see how that factors into anything.
1995. Thirty days in juvenile detention for shoplifting.
•High school years: Thirty days of house arrest for battery.
•Thirty days in juvenile detention for receiving stolen property, a gun.
•2002. Underage drinking arrest in Marion, Ind., his hometown.
•2003. Team suspension by the Trail Blazers for sucker-punching teammate Ruben Patterson in practice and breaking his eye socket.
•2003. Arrested in Portland for driving under the influence of intoxicants and marijuana.
•2004. Accused by police of lying in an investigation of his brother shooting three men in an Indiana nightclub.
•2006. Suspended by the Trail Blazers for making obscene gestures to fans after a game in Indiana.
•2006. Sued by a Portland woman for sexual assault, though prosecutors didn't file criminal charges.
•2007. Left a strip club without paying the bill while he was on bereavement leave from the team and missed three games after the death of his girlfriend's cousin.
•2007. Earlier this month, police were called to the parking lot of a strip club where Randolph and teammate Darius Miles were part of a gathering and a gunshot was fired.
This is the guy you guys actually want ? Seriously is it because he is black? There is nothing in his stat sheet that screams this guy is a good player who can help us win on the court.

They weren't as soft as Pau and didn't complain as much as Pau. Pau complains to the refs whenever there's contact instead of getting back on defense. And gets pushed around by most post players. This is the guy you guys actually want ? If all we have to give up is Darko and Jaric then yes. Z-Bo is a 20/10 player and borderline all-star. Darko is a bust up to this point and Jaric is a backup role player. It's a no brainer.

And his defense is still better than Zach Randolph's. So whats his excuse?
20 points per game on .465 shooting from a big man is not that impressive.
Last season his TS% placed him 42nd out the 62 PF that qualified. You are not going to win games with a chucker in the post who doubles as a defensive liability. And please drop the borderline all-star tag its laughable.

I think Nate's point is although he's not going to carry any team to the promised land...he'll be of more help than Darko/Jaric would be. Flawed talent is better than no talent.

dominates, did you only post to try and start an argument? seems like you're more about trying to talk shit than have a friendly discussion. Are you basing Gasol being a better defender on actually watching the two play or just seeing that Gasol avg more blocks? Why is it laughable to say Z-bo is a borderline all-star? The year before last he put up 23.6/10.1. Are you saying those aren't borderline all-star numbers? Oh no, his TS% ranked 42nd. If you want to use a pointless stat how about his PER that ranks 13th among PFs or that his PER last season would have ranked 4th this year and 12th in the entire league. How about the fact the Grizz need rebounding and Z-Bo ranked 5th in rebound rate for a PF? If you think Darko and Jaric are better than Zach then more power to you because Darko's TS% is even worse.

Darko is still only 23 years old. He has to have more value than that. A young bustastic Kwame Brown netted the Wizards a legitimate "border line all star" in Caron Butler at around that same age.

Because the lakers were dumbasses. Darko doesn't have much value. look at what magic gave up for him, the fact that magic didn't pick up his option, and the fact that we were the only team to offer more than the MLE. Zach is only 4 years older than Darko and when Zach was 23 he avg 20/10. I can't see darko doing that any time soon.
