I think theres a few factors why Pau got in over Melo. I think Pau being older played a part. The Nuggets, even with Cambys injury, have underachieved which hurt Melo. Also Im sure Melos alleged attitude problems played a part. He'll almost for certain get in next year.

why dont we start talking about getting rid of Yao from the game and put Melo there instead Yao is doing good this year plus the West needs his size to help guard Shaq. But yeah the Rockets do suck and Yao has missed quite a few games so he probably doesnt really deserve to be on the team. I think if anyone should be questioned over Melo it's Ray Allen. They have about equal stats but the Sonics have the third worst record in the west.

Melo could have made it instead of Allen but Mello isn't considered a guard. And no way Melo deserves it more than Brand, Gasol, Marion or Dirk. Good players are left out all the time.
The East choices are much more questionable with Arenas and Redd being left out.

I'd put Chris Paul over Ray Allen on the West Team in a heartbeat

John, to take Melo, who would you leave out from Brand, Marion, Gasol, Dirk or KG?
Dan, Paul is having a huge rookie season but I don't think being a rookie factors in. Allen has always been a great player and is having a carrer high in ppg. That's worth something although I agree he is the most questionable west all star this season.
