so, most of the basketblogger bros are rushing to the defense of LeBron (and friends) opting out, saying the critisicsm he is facing is unjust and then pointing to the Spurs and saying "why aren't people upset about duncan and parker taking less money).
Here is my answer. Because nobody on the spurs team is the best player on the planet and maybe best basketball player ever to live.
There is just something that feels wrong about the best, most dominate basketball player alive wanting to have a team full of all-stars to guarantee winning the championship.
Also, Duncan was like 37, so him taking 10 million a year isn't the same as a 30 year old lebron taking less to guarantee his team is stacked. And Parker taking ~10 million a year isn't really a huge pay cut if you look at other PG contracts (e.g., Conley and Lowry).
Plus, the heat won because of Diaw and Green and Leonard and Mills playing great, which is the exact opposite of "let's get a team full of max-level all-stars to help me and my ego win".
Spurs won ego-less. LeBron wants 5 other max level guys to stroke his ego.
So, fuck LeBron and Wade.
This is like playing pickup ball and the best player demanding the 2nd, 3rd and 4th best players play with him so he guarantees not to lose because he is afraid of earning the win, rather wanting to win nearly by default.
Fuck LeBron. I hope Wade breaks his knee and Bosh turns to shit and whoever else they sign has something bad happen to them.
I'm not looking at this from the players having too much power angle. They got killed in last CBA in terms of guaranteed money. I'm looking at it from an entertainment factor. Watching a super team crush the east is boring as all fucking hell.

The Legends are face palming with this. They would have never done this. If anything the losses drove them more to the gym to work even harder for next season to get a ring and be the best. MJ would have never wanted to go team with Magic or Bird, he wanted to beat the best.
I can't stand Lebron. All the talent in the world, and a he reminds me of a Kardasian really, just a huge drama queen. They better not have an hour long special for both of them talking about the Heat and both sign with somebody else.
I'm close to boycotting ESPN anyways, cause its Lebron time 100% of the time, so lame that ESPN seems like TMZ now. Glad I saw the last great generation of basketball, I respect what the Spurs did, that is a classic generation team, one of the last few.

i just looked at the moves made by glen grunwald over his career and now have to wonder why in the hell the grizz want him www.basketball-reference.com/executives/grunwgl99x.htmlseems like the only thing he could do was sign has beens to the knicks and that only happened because it was the knicks

Griz fans surprised they didn't pick up Ed Davis QO?

Surprised in the sense what did we trade rudy gay for? That and the cleveland trade before it just keep looking worse and worse. I honestly feel like most of the time the Grizz are good despite the front office. They make so many bad moves it's crazy. Ed Davis is still young and could become something, but I've never been overly impressed with him whenever I've seen him play. Doesn't seem overly fluid or coordinated in his motions to me. He looks like a guy that doesn't really know how to play, but makes things happen because of his athleticism.

grizz will wait until all the good FA are signed and then sign someone desperate for a cheap 1 year deal

kindof boring waiting for lebron and melo to sign some where. will be even more boring when those 2 make the entire league wait a week, then simply fucking re-sign with existing teams

Every offseason I get excited about the offseason only to see the grizz do nothing of note except let players walk for nothing. Really hope we resign James Johnson. I could go either way with resigning Miller. He was able to stay healthy last season, but I'm pretty confident if we overpay to resign him his injuries will return. I just can't see an injury prone player stay healthy 2 years in a row, especially when he'll be 35 next season. I'm guessing we won't resign Beno either, which kind of sucks since he was great in the playoffs for a player that hadn't been with the team long.
