Didn't know devs was by same guy as sunshine etc, might have to check out now. That said, kind of felt like sunshine and annihilation started strong, but kind of went downhill toward the end.
Binged Upload on prime last week. Was ok. Liked the premise and some of the future aspects, and could have been really good, but never quite got there. Good cast and entertaining enough though if it sounds interesting to you.

I’ve been meaning to watch Devs too, heard a lot of good things about it.
That said, totally agree with you on Sunshine and Annihilation. Both took interesting sci-fi premises and just turned them into blah horror movies by the end. It’s the main reason movies like Alien(s) are massively overrated, at least as sci-fi.

I thought Annihilation was pretty consistent with it's message throughout the movie. Sunshine definitely took a left turn. I love Aliens but yeah that's really more of an action movie. What are you favorite sci-fi movies?

What are you favorite sci-fi movies? 100% love Annihilation the whole way through. The ending is fantastic. Sunshine, yeah I think thats universal. For 80 of its minutes its this philosophic journey to save the world, and then takes a right veer into slasher territory that isn't even really that well done. Alien is a perfect movie, anyone who disagrees can fight me. Aliens is ALMOST a perfect movie. I think both are great sci-fi movies as well.

What are you favorite sci-fi movies? Contact, Interstellar, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Inception, Arrival, The Matrix, Signs. Jurassic Park and Back to the Future, if those count. Independence Day. I guess that’s an “oh no, aliens are mean and scary” movie. Star Trek: TNG and LOST are two of my favorite shows ever. The original Land of the Lost. Too many books to name...

Sunshine of the spotless mind? Fuck off I think he just threw that one in there to see if anyone was paying attention. That's the only explanation for why a list of someone's favorites movies would include the miserable mess that is Eternal Sunshine.

after seeing it recommended here many times, started watching last kingdom. 4 eps into 2nd season. Good show. Mentioned it before, but if you like viking type shows, Norsemen on Netflix is a comedy viking show and pretty good

Love Norsemen! Can't wait for Season 2.
Last Kingdom I liked for the 1st season but gave up on like 2 episodes into Season 2. The end of Season 1 felt like a good wrap up to me and I substantially dislike the main character.

Been watching "The Plot Against America" and didn't realize going in it was an alternative history-type show. LOL, was in for quite a surprise.
Good show though so far.
Also finally started Homeland. I think I am on episode 9. Love the Showtime random sex scenes that add nothing to the story line LOL. Been pleasantly surprised so far, but the Saul character is borderline unbelievable with all the shit he puts up with from her.

Finally got around to starting Ozark and I like it so far. Most of these crime shows seem to love to have women characters in the show for the sake of internal conflict, and they don't really grow as characters or do much to affect the plot. Skyler in Breaking Bad(not to show the obvious comparison to this show lol) was super guilty of that IMO. Stupid well acted character that to me just seemed to be there to be the put off wife and be a source of conflict. Ozark is fucking KILLING it in just the first 5 episodes for me in terms of well written, autonomous female characters.
Really enjoying the show so far.

Finally getting around to watching Cobra Kai now that it's been added to Netflix. Really enjoying it so far.
