What are the best shows/movies on showtime? I got it during a deal, but might be canceling soon just because I have a crap ton of streaming sites, so trying to binge before canceling. Currently on new Dexter then probably going with Yellowjackets. Showtime after dark.

Finally finished new Dexter. Reminded me of original show as far as starting really good, but then getting to the point where you're ready for it to end and then being disappointed with the ending.

Showtime is the network television version of a premium cable channel. They always stretch out their shows/stories beyond their natural end point. I haven't seen a ton of their shows but the the few good ones I've actually enjoyed are Homeland, Penny Dreadful (the original series, not the LA one) and Yellowjackets.

The Batman…was so damn good! Who has seen it!? I honestly never thought anything would top The Dark Knight, for a Batman movie, but honestly I might like this movie more, still need to watch it again though.

Saw it last night - liked the movie a lot, even if it was probably like 30 minutes too long...but it's not even in the same area code as The Dark Knight for me. Dark Knight imo is one of if not the best movie of all time first and a comic book movie second, and The Batman just felt like a pretty good comic book movie.

Yeah TDK is probably my most rewatched movie, definitely a lot of viewings on many international flights. Honestly I was shocked by how much I liked The Batman. But I thought it took all of the themes that Nolan was going for with TDK and told a better, more interesting and surprising story. TDK always kind of falls apart for me starting with the ferry scene. And I think a lot of TDK's appeal is on the shoulders of an all-time great Joker performance from Ledger and some great action set pieces in the first 2/3 of the movie. Also loved The Batman's grimy, dirty Gotham which is something that all of the other movies have mentioned but none have really pulled off like this movie did. And the batmobile in The Batman was like a character in itself. It's neck and neck for me, that's why I need to see it again.

Agree with all of the comments on The Batman - I agree that they probably did the best job of "world building" Gotham City, for lack of a better term. I was also really pleasantly surprised with Pattinson, thought the more emo take on the role fit really well. My main critique is with the writing, there were like 3 or 4 times where they were clearly going for "cool Batman line" and it was just so cheesy that I literally laughed out loud, and Batman's complete invincibility throughout the movie. I also think they blatantly ripped off TDK in a lot of ways, especially with Riddler vs. Joker - felt like the personality was basically the same as Heath Ledger's Joker, especially the hostage recordings which were basically lifted straight from TDK.

Yikes. There's being a critic and then there's Geek. Sheesh.

I really liked the idea of...
***SPOILERS BELOW***
how they didn't have Batman figure out the Bruce Wayne role. Like the first couple of years he really only cared about cleaning up the streets as best as he could...which I think they did an incredible job of selling here. I also think that's what made this film so much fun because he was like in the Bat suit for like 90% of the movie. Super fun for me.
Didn't get the notion at all that the Riddler personality was similar to Heath's Joker. Like at all. The hostage scene is why? Alrighty then.

It was good.
The Good
1) Distinct from Nolan's Batman. Noir, cyberpunk-esque take with a lot less focus on the action. 2) Pattinson had perhaps the best Batman of all actors 3) The writers used the pieces they had very well 4) Riddler, Catwoman, Batman all being tied together neatly
The Bad
1) The dialogue was forgettable 2) No interest in this Alfred and Pattison felt awkward as Bruce 3) Catwoman is the weakest part of both Rises and this movie 4) I liked where they were going with the last 30 minutes but that was poor execution
7.5/10
