Minnesota sends Gerald Green to Houston
Houston sends Minnesota Kirk Snyder, a second-round pick and cash
-------------------------------------------------------------
it's been a long, quick fall for green. i'm a celtics fan and when they drafted him several years ago with the #18 pick, it seemed like a steal from everything that i read. he had a good year last year, though on a rotten team that the celtics had. he was a piece in the kevin garnett trade to minnesota, and i thought a key piece until the timberwolves chose not to pick up his 4th year player option which really surprised me but told me a lot. obviously they didn't think much of him.
very surprising that the timberwolves gave up on green so fast. i like green as a player but i'm wondering if he's just going to become a journeyman who should have gone to college.

I think Green has nothing but upside, and will be great as a slasher for the Rockets. Green had asked the Wolves for a trade, so they felt as though if they could find equal talent, they would make the deal. Snyder is very solid, and as of now is better then Green. I really think that Green can be a star, he just needs to put the work in

green may have asked for a trade, but minnesota had already made the decision to give up on him anyway. i'm amazed the timberwolves didn't extend his option. that said, when the garnett deal was finalized, i was bummed that the celtics were losing jefferson and actually ryan gomes, but green, not so much. still, i'll be really interested to see how gerald green is doing (and where he's doing it) in say 3-5 years. hopefully it's not in the NBDL or overseas.

Agreed. He reminds me of a Gerald Wallace type. Wallace took awhile to lose the stigma of just being a jumper, and now is one of the best do it all players in the league.

really good point. i'd think to be compared to gerald wallace is a big compliment to a guy like gerald green who basically has proven nothing and has been traded by two teams already in his career. i liked green when he played for the celtics and the fact that he helped the celtics get garnett makes me like him even more. but i'd like to see him turn into a gerald wallace type player someday. green seems like a good guy to root for.

I think it once again shows that Kevin McHale is a doofus of a GM. How does he still have a job?

First of all Green doesn't remind me of Wallace, when he does play he can't guard the red side of a red barn and he is not a great rebounder which Wallace is....I like Green and I think Houston got a steal getting him also while moving Wells which should allow Green to play.....This deal made made to get a young star to go with Ming because they will start shopping T-Mac next season....They looking for someone with some HEART which T mac was born w/o alone with a pair of balls.... P.S McHale AKA Herman the Monster is just fixing the problem of not trading KG 3 seasons ago...He has moved so many bad contracts and now the Wolves now has flexibility

I'm a firm believer that defense and rebounding can be taught, if the player has the desire to become better. You can't teach speed and athletisim, two things Green and Wallace have in common at this point of eachothers careers. Wallace wanted to be better so he became more then a highlight. The question is, does Green have that same type of drive?
As for T- Mac, I think he's gone! It's Yao's team, and they need to bring in a younger guard who can stay healthy but still play at a high level. They need a FT Robin to Yao's batman. Can't win a title if Robin is always injured

I think it once again shows that Kevin McHale is a doofus of a GM. How does he still have a job? as a celtics fan who grew up watching mchale, i say damn you. as an impartial observer of what he's done (or hasn't done) in minnesota...i say i'm right there, wondering with you in how he's had that job for 10+ years.
