Interesting quote from Sportscenter's Tom Brennan: "UCLA gets calls like Duke gets calls, because they are a great program. People don't like to hear it, but that's the facts."

"They clearly tackled me, maybe hit me, and I fell to the ground looking for the foul and it didn't go our way," Ryan Anderson said. "But that's UCLA, number (three) in the country and they're going to get respect. That's just frustrating, really frustrating."
LMAO
Ryan Anderson is the softest player in the PAC 10. I don't care how much you hate UCLA there is no way you can watch that slow motion replay and conclude Westbrook "tackled" him. Anderson went to the ground on his own and flailed out his arms in the process. Dude is seriously weak.

Ryan Anderson is pretty soft, but that replay shows that Westbrook's right arm clearly sweeps across Anderson's on the way to the ball. His hand got ball, but he fouled the shit out of Anderson with his arm.
The second angle shows that not only did his right arm hack Anderson's right arm, but his left was wrapped around the back of Anderson as he was hacking him on the arm - which is usually plenty enough for a ref to call a foul, especially in the must foul situation that UCLA was in.
You got lucky, refs bailed out UCLA 2 straight games. It doesn't mean they are a bad team, but they definitely had help winning the pac 10 title.

Are you kidding me? Noodle armed Anderson arm doesn't move until as a reaction to gather the loose ball. Do you think his arm is going to take a hack from Westbrook down and not move downward?
Westbrook's arm is on Anderson's back the entire play, but hes not pushing him or influencing his movement in anyway. Its not a foul to touch the opposing player otherwise players like Love would average 40 points a game.
I'm glad you were at least able to see that Anderson clearly knocked the ball out of bounds on the replay in contrast to what you believed to see "live".
UCLA won the PAC 10 by three games. Give them two losses the last couple of games and they are still the Champs.

UCLA won the PAC 10 by three games. Give them two losses the last couple of games and they are still the Champs. That would be true if they somehow gave Stanford AND UCLA a loss in the same game. And that angle doesn't really show definitively who the ball went off of, but combined with other angles I've seen suggests that Anderson knocked it out.

My mistake I should have mentioned that I am also retroactively awarding Arizona the win against Stanford because of a questionable call going Stanford's way in crunch time. That would clear up the need for Co PAC 10 Champions.

Since this is a Cougars thread, then I'm going to talk about are domination of the UW Fuskies. Though they gave it a nice shot, again they fail and lose in double overtime to us. The Huskies haven't beaten us in the two major sports in 2 years. 7 in a row for basketball, and 3 out 4 Apple Cups. I would would officially like to call this the Husky suck Cougars dick era.

Does WSU have any legitimate athletes coming to play for them next year? They look like a well coached Intermural team.

Interesting post from a Cal blog after viewing the slow motion replay I already linked.... "So, we just all assumed that Anderson was gang-raped and went on our merry/bitter little way. Well, a mod called Telemachus over at BruinsNation posted up the video in his most recent post. Here is the direct link to the video (caution: it takes a while to load). The video is in slow motion so you can get the best possible view of whether or not Anderson was fouled. We here at the California Golden Blogs do the dirty work you don't have to. We watched this video. Over and over and over again. Hoping to see those damnable Bruins hogtie up Anderson and roll the ball out of bounds as the refs received millions of dollars in cash money from Bill Walton. Hoping to see something. Anything. Well...................and this is not what the Cal fans are not going to want to hear, but it actually looks clean. I know I know! The refs. Screwed Cal. No hope. Braun not at fault. It goes down like this. Player #0, Russell Westbrook, comes towards Anderson from behind. He drapes his left hand over the back of Anderson. However, this is done with the gentlest of care, as if Westbrook and Anderson were in a committed monogamous relationship. Then, Westbrook slaps vertically down upon the ball and it looks like ONLY the ball. Then, Anderson falls to the ground as the ball bounces off his knee. Now, here is where it gets a bit tricky. Even though its in slo mo and HD, it is tough to make out what happens next exactly. Westbrook clearly bounces the ball once, trying to recover it. It looks like Anderson then punches the ball out of bounds as he falls forward. I cannot tell if Westbrook in any way touches the ball also at this point. Another Bruins player comes over, but it does not appear as if he touches the ball. I have watched that section of the video innumerable times in both the side and front angle, but it is still a bit unclear. If you stuck a gun to my head and asked my opinion, I'd have to say that it looks like Anderson was the last player to touch the ball. What this means is that the refs might have gotten it totally correct. From the video, it appears that the non-call on the foul was correct. And it looks reasonably certain that it was Bruins ball. I hate to have to say this. But I'm just trying to be objective and reasonable about it." goldenblogs.blogsome.com/2008/03/09/video-review/#comments

Whats your explanation about the illegal last shot that went over the backboard?

Whats your explanation about the illegal last shot that went over the backboard? I dont really have much of an opinion on it. I never knew of the rule and have never seen it enacted before. I have no basis to know whether or not a shot like that is usually ruled illegal. Does the entire ball have to be over the backboard or just part of it? How about if the ball goes over the corner? The official said it came right over the corner and it was too close to call. He was not 100% sure either way. Perhaps the outrage criticizing a whistle happy referee at the end of the game against Stanford influenced him to not impact the game by making a call he wasn't a 100% sure of. Either way it was an amazing shot as was Love's off balanced three.
