Hello all, I run a OOTP 24 league currently in year 2035. We've reached the post season so now is a good time to jump in. After many seasons of having really good luck keeping teams around(like 4 openings in 12 seasons total) we've run into a rough patch losing some GMs and having issues picking them back up. We currently have 4 teams opening with the potential for 5 or 6 being open.
Kansas City Royals - 72-90 in our current season. Farm isn't highly rated but has some decent depth to it. 28th in budget with a 112m budget its a tough team to try and build. The salary situation, despite the low budget, isn't awful. Budget is projected to jump to 130 million in the off season and only has about 10-15 million in guaranteed contracts. There is some decent youth that has graduated to the majors, including a really nice 1B that has a future yearly 5 WAR type guy written all over him. Team has some talent it just need someone to push it forward.
Cincinnati Reds - 44-118 in our current season. Again not highly rated farm but I'm actually higher on their farm than OSA is by a decent bit. They have a high level SP prospect that I think is a future ace. Also have the #1 pick. Like the Royals, there is talent and potential here to push forward in a couple years. This one is tougher than the Royals for two reasons. Financially they have more tied up and projected to be less budget wise. And the other reason is they are in the NL, which in our league has long been the dominant league. They also are in the NL Central, with two teams this season with 95 plus wins, an up and coming Pirates roster and the Cubs being typically perennial contenders. This will be a tough build but it isn't hopeless as I did like the direction the team was going before the GM switched teams.
Seattle Mariners - Probably the second best situation of the four teams that are currently open. They are set to have a budget of 192 million, give or take, based on projections. They have talent to acquire youth in trades. They are somewhat loaded up salary wise but it eases up a bit after next season to make the team truly your own. They also have four top 100 prospects, though none of them are top 70 Calderon looks like a future star.
Texas Rangers- Solid situation overall, made the playoffs the previous season. Top 10 farm with some dudes I personally really like. Young and talented at the MLB level. Middling to bottom third budget but salary situation is a lot of arby and nothing long term. Should be a playoff team next season with relative ease. Division looks not so tough right now but Houston is set to be pretty solid for a while and Oakland has a ton of talent in a down year.
Couple things:
- We run M-F, mostly in the 6-10 PM ET range during the season. We sim 7 days a week in season. Season takes about a month, off season takes about 3 or so weeks.
- Everything in the league is done in game(meaning you must own the game) or in Slack.
- Nothing terribly abnormal about the league, not a lot of house rules.
Hit me up if you are interested.
