I know the group dashboard confessional, but haven't really listened to any of their stuff. I do find it a bit funny that Spurs talks so much shit about rap, yet some of his favorite bands are rock groups that use a form of rap in their music.

I'm a Dashboard fan. There singer is amazing. His voice is one of my faves.
Also, is Alkaline Trio the one who sang Put it in your Mouth like 4 years back? I'm positive I've heard of them, but never listened to any of their struff.

But anyways, 311 and P.O.D are the only exceptions to the sometimes rap mix in their songs

Linkin Park and System of a Down do it to. Park even just did that collaboration with Jay-Z.

That doesn't really make any sense. To me, it seems you just refuse to allow yourself to like rap. I know a lot of people like this. They don't want to like rap because it's rap. It's the same way with country music. You should be open minded to all forms of music. I listen to every kind of music, watch every genre of movies, eat every kind of food, etc, etc. I have a broad range of tastes in everything, which means I can enjoy far more of the things in life than the people that limit themselves. I got my 51 year old white mom liking rap and she's one of the biggest rock fans I know. She still goes to rock concerts: Ozzfest, Rolling Stones, etc. She knew David Bowie before he ever hit it big, the list goes on, yet, she'll call me up asking the name of some rap song she heard. I know for a fact there would be certain rappers or rap groups you would like, but you never will because you won't give them the chance. You're in the mindset that "rap is crap" and think the rap you see on MTV is all there is. It's especially interesting when you think of the fact that music is an expression of the artist and is intended to put the listener in a particular state of mind, so by ignoring other forms of music, you're limiting your possibilities.

but rap done by rock bands still has rock beats and rock instruments in it. Rap done by rappers is all just synthesized music in the background, and these days usually has some chick in the chorus trying to make it a catchy single. I can understand not liking rap unless its done by a rock group. The sound of rap along with the instruments of rock is a much different sound as a whole than a rapper rapping over a synthesized beat.
