do you think Phil would have that many championships, if he didn't have jordan and shaq? I dont know but the fact of the matter is he did, so who are we to say he couldnt have without them. Any Coach thats wins a championship with Luc Longley at Centre is Number #1 in my book.

if he can do something with this pathetic lakers squad he'll raise in my book.
until then he's just a good coach with great players.

To his credit, Kobe and Shaq were together before him and couldn't get their act together. Phil arrives and they start contending and winning.
I don't know the chicago story as well since I was too young but I think Bulls were a bad team even with Jordan doing awesome and just after he arrived they Bulls started winning.
No coach wins without good players but good players won't win without a good coach.

Kobe was very very young before Phil arrived, and Shaq hadn't been there long.
They were a very talented team, but had trouble making all the pieces fit.

Jogo makes some good points.
But I guy who wins any many rings as he has must be doing something right.
Great Coaches get the best out of their players........Jackson has been great at doing that.
All Lakers Had was really Kobe and Shaq the rest were just making up the numbers..........Phil Jackson wins titles..........other great coaches win games......thats the difference.

They were a very talented team, but had trouble making all the pieces fit. Yeah they just had that trouble. A small thing that Phil worked on. There are so many teams that have great players and don't win. Phil took the lakers to where they were already expected to be, but it wasn't someone else that did it. It was him.

Yeah, but from what i see, phil can't make the players show up when it counts, he can't make jordan hit game winners in the game, he can't help shaq dunk over anyone. Phil had probably the one of the greatest players, if not thee greatest player and the most dominate center since Wilt and Kareem on his team. If he can win with the lakers this year, then it will be a different story, but i don't see it happening.

if odom can step it up, i think the lakers CAN be a legit contender, thats probably why phil's making pippen teach odom how to play a bigger role so kobe can be kobe
