The gold mine for this for the Celtics is getting the hell rid of Mark Blount. That alone makes this a great deal for them.
Trading away Davis is tough, but to get rid of Blount, they probably had to overpay. At least now, Perkins and Jefferson will play a lot more which is what they needed. Same with Tony Allen. Marcus Banks leaving town is very good news for Delonte West as well.
Not sure why Minnesota took Blount, but I'm sure the Celtics will welcome Olowokandi...er...that is, his expiring contract.

Hmmm where is the perimeter defense coming from in boston now.. Their 2 best perimeter defenders are gone to Minny.. wouldn't Delonte West have been one of their two best perimeter defenders before this trade?

Interestingly, Minnesota had an offer to send Szczerbiak and Trenton Hassell to Orlando for Steve Francis but chose to get Ricky Davis instead.
And apparently Timberwolves GM Kevin McHale had wanted Ricky Davis for years.

"We are ecstatic to acquire a player of Wally Szczerbiak's quality to complement Paul Pierce and our young talent base," Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a statement.
"In Wally, we are receiving an All-Star player who is playoff tested and who has been a winner at all levels. We wish Ricky, Mark, Marcus, and Justin continued success in Minnesota."
--Wally is an All-Star yet Pau Gasol never has been? That seems odd and not right.

I thought banks was a better defender than west. I could be wrong. But i thought banks was like one of the best defenders in college when he was a senior or whenever he came out

But i thought banks was like one of the best defenders in college when he was a senior or whenever he came out that very may be true, but it doesn't hide the fact that he is fairly clueless running an offense, whereas west has shown clear abilities to do that, hit the open jumper from outside AND be aggressive on defense. banks seems lost at times on the court.

I like it for the wolves
Ricky Davis is pretty good - especially when he shoots it off of his own rim to get his 10th rebound.
