From the Boston Globe...
Paul Pierce received an invitation to join Team USA for a training camp starting July 18 and a contract outlining a three-year commitment in preparation for the 2008 Olympics.
"I'm just happy to have the opportunity," Pierce said. "I want to be one of the top guys in the camp come July. It's up to me to see what I can do to make the team." Pierce played on the national team that finished a disappointing sixth at the 2002 world championships in Indianapolis.

From the Denver Post...
Carmelo Anthony received an invitation by the U.S. Olympic Committee to work out with the U.S. men's team during its July training camp in Las Vegas.
Anthony repeatedly has said that if invited, he would play. Players will be culled from that pool to participate in the 2006 world championships in Japan and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The official roster will be released in early March.
