Two of the greatest NBA franchises who don't have the greatest teams right now squared off last night, but it was a very entertaining game with the Celtics squeezing it out in the final minute, 112-111. Some notes...
Kobe Bryant had 40 points, eight rebounds, six assists, a steal and three three-pointers on 11-of-23 shooting tonight. He battled Paul Pierce in a classic matchup of superstars, but the Lakers fell to the Celtics. Kobe missed a shot at the buzzer and was called for a controversial foul on Pierce that allowed the Celtics to take control of the game in the final minute. He also hit 15-of-17 free throws, but scored just three points in the fourth quarter.

Lamar Odom had 14 points, 10 boards and seven assists on 6-of-11 shooting tonight.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brian Cook had 19 points and five rebounds in the starting lineup for the Lakers tonight, in place of Kwame Brown. He hit 8-of-16 shots.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delonte West had 19 points, a career-high 10 assists, two steals and a three tonight, but fouled out in the fourth quarter. He hit 8-of-16 shots, and rebounded from his 1-of-6 performance in his last game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul Pierce had 39 points, seven boards, four assists and two steals on 12-of-20 shooting tonight as the Celtics beat the Lakers. He also hit 14-of-21 free throws, and while he and Kobe Bryant had a great head-to-head battle, the Celtics walked away with a win after Kobe missed a shot at the buzzer.

Boston's Ryan Gomes had a career-high 19 points and added 12 rebounds on 8-of-10 shooting in tonight's win.
