You make no sense. Seems to me you are just being a homer like you call the warriors fans. Either pro-Clippers or anti-Warriors. If the Mavs wanted to avoid the Warriors they would want to beat them and give the Clippers the 8th seed because that would be much more probable (with a Warriors loss vs Mavs) than getting the 7th seed hoping the Kings beat the Lakers when they have nothing on the line. And really although it would be nice of Avery to play his best players since there's a race between the Warriors and the Clippers, this is a professional sport and he is getting payed. He is getting payed to win in the playoffs and not to be nice. If he played Dirk and Dirk got injured, he would be headed for big trouble and probable firing if the Mavs failed in the 1st round. Popovich can rest his starters because he is playing the Grizz but Mavs can't because their schedule gave them a team that is still playing for something when they are playing for nothing? Doesn't make sense. I can't see you having a point other than if I were a Clippers fan I would be pissed too. But like Elton Brand said, they should be in that situation in the 1st place (where they have to hope for a Warriors loss). I make no sense? Do you guys honestly believe that Mavericks don't give a flying fuck who they play in the playoffs? If you do, that is one of the most assinine things I've ever heard in my entire life. Of course they care who they play. This isn't one of the unstoppable Bulls teams who will obliterate any team that crosses their path, these are the same Mavericks who find a way to choke in of the playoffs year after year after year after year. It's only common sense to want the easiest path possible. Either way, we have an interesting slate of games tonight to keep an eye on.

I think it's much more feasible for the Warriors to be out of the playoffs then it would for them to jump over the Lakers, especially if they lost to the Mavs last night.
If they lose to the Mavs then they're tied with the clips, and in the 9 spot due to the tiebreaker. Then all that would need to happen is a Clips win OR a Warriors loss to push them out of the playoffs entirely. As it is now they need a Warriors win AND a Lakers loss to get them in the 7 seed. If they were trying to lose specifically to avoid the Warriors then they are pretty stupid, since it would be much easier for them to avoid the Warriors simply by beating them and trying to knock them out of the playoffs.

i kno the warriors are 3-0 vs the mavs but it is clear to me that the mavs are the far superior team and they shouldn't be worried about the warriors, though they are a good team. I wouldn't want to play the lakers though cuz of #24....even the chance that he could go on a scoring streak and drop 50 in like every game of the series is scary and if i were avery johnson i would much rather play the warriors a team that I belive can not stop the playoff version of dirk whos hungry after there terrible loss in the finals last year

if they wanted to avoid the warriors they would have tried to beat them Maybe, maybe not. It's likely that they thought their best chance of not playing them was for the W's to get to the 7th seed. It's no secret that the Clippers have been fading and blowing easy games left and right. Giving the W's a win helps them all the more to read that #7. I'm sure Cuban and Avery don't have some secret war bunker where they plan out advanced seeding strategies with MIT math nerds doing their best imitation of the NBA version of sabermetrics, BUT, I have to believe they were hoping for the best with their strategy. It just might work out for them...

No matter what happens, I hope the Mavericks get their behinds kicked for not showing proper respect to the gods of the playoffs. The Suns did last night against the Clippers, and despite the fact that I don't like them very much, I wish them the best of luck.

you also have to be upset with the grizz, spurs, celts, pacers, raps, pistons, wolves, blazers for not playing their best players. most teams do it. nothing new

last year the clippers lost on purpose to get a better matchup. last year teams rested players even more than this year. point is its part of the game.

I don't remember the Clippers tanking last year. Who did they end up playing, the Nuggets? Pretty weak if they did. I believe all teams should be given an equal shot at the playoffs. The best schedule these days is one where the dominant teams are your final handful of games.

Could create the possibility of a 3-way tie in the East. I wonder what the tie breakers are...

I just want a Toronto-New Jersey 1st round. I'm going to NYC and Toronto in May and I need one of those teams still playing...so I can spend a big amount of money on a ticket
