Steelers LB Porter set for second knee surgery in a year May 23, 2006 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter is expected to have arthroscopic knee surgery as early as Wednesday, less than a year after having loose cartilage removed from his left knee.
The Steelers did not say which knee requires surgery.
Porter took part in the Steelers' minicamp May 13-15, but has missed the voluntary coaching sessions held since then. The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker worked out Tuesday on his own at the team's practice complex.
Porter missed most of training camp and the four exhibition games last summer after needing knee surgery -- a problem aggravated when he jumped in the air to celebrate winning a training camp blocking competition. He returned to play in the Super Bowl champions' 16 regular-season games and four playoff games.

wasn't Porter going to go to the white house and talk shit to Bush? I want to know how that went --unfortunately, i don't think the steelers were going to let him. they even made sure to put out a statement and not let porter talk about it. May 17, 2006, 16:30 LB Porter Apologizes For Comments About President BushAssociated Press Linebacker Joey Porter of the Pittsburgh Steelers is retracting some tongue-in-cheek comments regarding plans that he had to tell President Bush next month that he dislikes how the country is being run.
