sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4410862Bunch of bitches, this is the kind of thing that happens when you only bring in players for a year. This is why players should have to play three seasons in college. Colleges that make tons of money off of athletes should have to donate their money to either scholarships, lower tuition for low income people, or do something with it, cause it is not right that top colleges make tons of money off of these players as well. Its not a fucking business, its to help people. People and corporations in America have taken capitalism way too far. That is the main problem with america, everybody has to try and make a buck off of somebody for anything they do, just fucking bullshit and we are now seeing the down fall to this, by looking at the economy.

eh, i am kinda confused. I thought the SAT was taken before he even committed to Memphis, and it was clear that nobody from Memphis had any knowledge of the fudged test. I mean, what was Memphis supposed to do? He was cleared by the clearing house...

I wish I was high.
What has been released so far shows Memphis had nothing to do with the sat. It was the high school, which got in trouble for doing similar stuff for other athletes.
And the NCAA told Memphis at the time he could play.
I have no hard feelings about striking some wins off record books if he is now found to have been ineligible, but the NCAA needs to be upfront that they shouldn't have cleared him in the first place. Memphis had every right to play him. The NCAA said it was OK to do so. And cal and Memphis had nothing to do with him and his high school cheating.

What was the story behind Calipari's 1st final four being vacated?
Maybe Calipari didn't know about the SAT score but did he also not notice Derrick Rose's brother catching a ride on the plan as well?
Either way I couldn't care less about Memphis. They are pretty much back to being irrelevant on the national scale before this all came out anyway. How about time the NCAA does something about USC's Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo? How USC gets away with everything is beyond me.

Rose's brother rode everygame. It's not uncommon for boosters or whatnot to tale the team plane. They just have to pay. Rose's brother paid most of the time, but they found he didn't pay all of the time. Which is wrong, but not the reason any games are vacated. That is a minor infraction. Which was only found because the girls tennis team got in trouble for something and all books got audited. Was it wrong? Yes. Should they have to prove their accounting system won't miss anything like that again? Yes. But it is a minor infraction that by itself wouldn't carry any penalty.

Yeah, I am not sure about vacating a Final Four for the current infractions. Its bullshit to me. And I am not a Memphis homer by any means, but its just reeks of bullshit.
it wasnt like memphis helped him cheat on the SAT. Also, my question is: what could memphis have done to avoid this? Its putting an awful lot of responsibility on schools to the point where they need to administer tests themselves to ensure all rules were followed, and the NCAA clearinghouse is a fucking joke. Its like they OK guys but then make a note incase they need to come back later and crack some ass, they know right where to look.
The plane flight deal is also a crock of shit. As i understand, like PHDsims said, dude flew all the time, and paid a lot of the time, and it just slipped through the cracks and he didnt pay once or twice. Does that sound like a final four banner needs to be vacated???
Man, it just doesnt sit right with me.

All the reports I have seen have said Memphis wont lose any scholarships or endure some sort of post season ban. So they are not really getting punished more than games played with an ineligible player being forfeited which is pretty standard. At least it was the best player on the team was ruled ineligible and not some scrub who hardly played.

Memphis went to the Final Four that year, they had a great team, but they came up short of a Championship. Nothing the NCAA says or does can take away the games that we all saw with our own 2 eyes.

So Derrick Rose didnt even take the SATs... i think its kindof shity calipari doesnt even get punished and this is the 2nd school hes been caught cheating at. I mean UK shouldnt have to pay for his crime. But he shouldnt be let off the hook.

Its really hard to feel bad for Calipari or the the Memphis athletic department now. At the very least they signed Rose knowing his eligibility was risky. UCLA just passed on signing Renardo Sidney for similar reasons this offseason.
