How is it that Major league umpires can be so bad? They missed Inge getting hit by a pitch in the Twins/Indians tie breakers game. Then they miss a ball clearly hitting in fair territory on the Twins/Yankees game. How do they miss that much and still have jobs? If I performed that poorly in my job I'd be fired.
Umpires suck.

Last night with the Red Sox was even worse.
Granted, I'm a Sox fan, but there were two no-brainer calls that the first base umpire missed completely. I can't even describe them without going insane with anger, just watch the highlights. It was ridiculous.
I have no ideas how umps and refs in general keep their jobs with the amount of terrible calls that happens in all of sports nowadays. It's a collective "eh, it happens" attitude that all the leagues take. Shouldn't be like that, at all.

Because they are supposed to be the best at it. If they fired refs when they make mistakes, who would do their jobs better? You?

they need replay in baseball. It should only be used in plays where the umpires can't get a clear view of the play. Twins got screwed in game two of the playoffs vs the yankees. Being a Twins fan and playing the Yankees I am used to it. I mean we have led like 5 of the 9 games played with 3 going into the bottom of the 9th to only lose.
