The Lakers will obviously not have as good a record or go as deep in the playoffs as they did last year. But they are in no way shape or form a bad team. Kobe Bryant is still a superstar, and he's the only guy you need on the floor in the 4th quarter. And sooner or later, you people need ta start recognizing how good Lamar Odom actually is. The dude is 6'10" and has PG skills. He is a pain in the ass perimeter defender because of his length. He can take you down on the block and score or hit a three in your eye, not too many 6'10" players can say that. Vlade Divac is a lot more valuable to his team than people give him credit for. Whenever he gets the ball in the high post, good things see to happen. Swingmen cut to the hoop and big men benefit from any double teams that come Vlade's way. With Brian Grant moving back to his natural position of PF, he will be much more effective, people forget he will get you 10 rpg on a nightly basis. If the Lakers' young guys keep developing, their depth could be one of their strengths. Caron Butler showed in the playoffs last year that he knows what it takes to become a great player. Luke Walton did the same. Mihm is not a great player if he's starting, but off the bench, he gives much needed energy and rebounding. They have their spot up shooter in Kareem Rush, and they replaced Derek Fisher's defensive intensity by picking up Marcus Banks. Couple all that with a veteran PG who knows his role and will his the open jumper in Chucky Atkins, you've still got yourself a good team.

The Nets have the luxury of playing in crap East, so their drop may not be as bad. But i can definitely see the Lakers dropping quite a bit, the loss of Shaq, Payton, and possibly Malone (not to mention the possibility of Kobe going to jail) may be too much for them to overcome.

no way the lakers beat out the spurs, t-wolves, kings, nuggets, or rockets. That leaves them as a 6 seed

why does everyone think the kings will all of a sudden suck? webber can't get any worse, Peja, Bibby, and Miller are all still young. Did losing Gerald Walace hurt them that much? The kings are still a good team, much much much much much much much better than the sorry lakers

The Lakers kinda got a team now with this trade. Kobe Bryant is 10 Times better then ANY player on the Kings. Kings are done, it was last year or a long time from now.
