So much for Ainge's so-called "youth movement" Trading their future star PG for LA's two oldest players. I guess they're looking for veteran leadership now, but also looking to contend now, and I don't think they will contend for a title before PAyton retires.

Pretty good pick up for the Lakers. 2 young players in Mihm and Banks for a close to retiring Payton and Fox.

It's Ainge, none of his trades make much sense

this trade sucks for both teams I think. payton would have been great in LA without the triangle slowing him down, but he's too old to be of any use for boston

Banks will never be a great starting PG. He can run and defend but can't shoot. Payton is underrated right now because he sucked with the Lakers system but he will be better for the Celtics. I think this trade is good for both teams. Celtics are stuck with what they have and Payton will be a good adiction in the short term.
Payton, Davis, Pierce, Al Jefferson, Blount
this is enough for a playoff spot

They might as well try to rebuild until they know they have a shot

Yeah I know everybody just loves the rebuilding mode. You don't have to screw up your team to win a championship one day. That's tipical of a warriors fan. You guys are rebuilding after that great player for what? 10 seasons?

Lakers CLEARLY got the better deal here. They got a good PG in Banks. And now they got a good big man in Mihm.

the warriors have never been rebuilding, do you think I enjoy losing for 13 straight years? yeah, i love it. hooray for rebuilding. What chance to the celtics have this year? none. why trade for someone that will help you this year and maybe next year for 2 players that could turn out to be good players someday. Making the playoffs in the east aint shit, don't add a piece that will push you over the top unless it will get you close to a championship, not the playoffs. Especially if you give away two of your best young prospects

for 2 players that could turn out to be good players someday That's where you and Ainge disagree. They probably don't think they will be good players someday. I really don't think Mihm will ever have offensive impact in the league just like I don't see Banks turning out to be a good starting PG. But I guess that if you think these guys will ever have impact on the league you can say the celtics were stupid. As for making the playoffs, I have a personal view on this. I would rather have a team, with no real shoot at the championship, to make let's say, the 2nd round, instead of joining the lottery teams. When you do good, your players have more trade value even if their stats aren't that amazing. Just look at the Heat last season. Do you think that if they had been 11th in the east they would have gotten Shaq? It's not only because of that but it helps to show your players during the playoffs.
